- TonyWebUk102 contributionsWonderful Trees and Flowering ShrubsThis is a stunning collection of trees and flowering shrubs including fourteen different kinds of rhododendron, occupying twelve acres close to Loch Broom just south of Ullapool. There are clearly marked pathways including one down to he lock side. It is dog friendly and when we went we had it all to ourselves. A donation of £3 is asked for via an honesty box and it is well worth the price. It is full of colour in spring and there are some fascinating trees.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 May 2024
- Irene LHatch End, United Kingdom26 contributionsWell worth a visitWell worth a visit, tricky to see the garden sign from the road. We thought the garden trees and shrubs were better than Inverewe Gardens, however, there are no facilities there, no toilets or refreshments. You are asked to leave a donation of £3 pp in a box as you enter.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 June 2024
- Sarah0811731 contributionsCute little gardenFirstly to mention the car park is not easy to navigate if you have anything other than a car. We travelled in a transit van and had to park on the main road in a parking area as the arched entrance in the wall is a tight bend. We could have reversed in (maybe) but decided it was easier just to stick to the road. Other than that the garden is cute. It took us around 15 minutes to walk around but if you have an interest in plants and trees you could end up spending longer there. It was very pretty and peacefulVisited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 June 2024

Rode my bike out from Ulapool. Visited on a rainy day on May 16 2022 and mostly had it all to myself. I only got a chance to visit one other garden at Dunvegan, and this one was my preference. There clearly has been decades of dedication that is reflected in this asset.

This is a hidden gem. Granted the sun was shining. So many mature trees from various places around the world. A lovely walk to the loch side. Peaceful. Calm. Didn’t see an otter but perhaps we were too noisy. I have an ASX and managed the archway openings without any bother

Lots of unusual trees in a lovely setting by the loch. It doesn't take a huge amount of time to go round the entire place but the cost is so reasonable and we had the entire place to ourselves. There is quite a narrow vehicle entrance to the car park.

This small tucked-away garden is a hidden treasure. There are some spectacular specimens of trees from around the world, and amazings views along Loch Broom. The garden is well looked after and is a pleasant, quiet sort of place. We are never disappointed.

We visited during a weeks holiday in October to north west Scotland. The gardens were lovely even this late in the season and the walks through the arboretum and along the shores of loch broom were stunning. Closed during the winter months but well worth a visit in season.

Although we have visited the area several times, we hadn't visited Leckmelm gardens before, what a great treat we have missed !
Even in late September there are a few flowers providing some colour & some of the trees are starting to change colour, in a few weeks the gardens will be spectacular.
The variety of trees is stunning with a lot of specimens not seen anywhere else
The gardens are dog friendly & most areas are wheelchair friendly too (there are some steps)
There is no admission charge , just a suggested donation .

A wonderful treat with some amazing trees. You can take your dogs in on a lead. It is wonderfully planted and the height of some of the older trees takes your breath away. You can exit down to Loch Broom as well. They are continuing to plant new varieties of trees

Access to parking is through a narrow arch in a wide wall - approach with care! Donation of #3 for access is reasonable BUT no facilities such as toilets or refreshments on site.
Good variety of shrubs and trees, and obvious work going on to replace lost trees and ensure variety for future years. Nice stroll will take you round in under an hour.

Visiting at this time of year is a must the shrubs seem at their best .
Yes it is recovering from the storm on 2015 . We wandered around with a wheel chair and sat awhile on the newly carved wooden furniture.
Well done all the volunteers... Hopefully they can fully name all the plants in time. We loved it from 93 to 60 yrs a lot to see and enjoy .
