The use of natural materials to highlight the beauty of the stone, as well as educate about geology and the natural history of the place, makes it a fantastic and beautiful stop to visit. The walks are great to get some good views (despite the...More

This is a great spot to stop and learn a little geology as well understand the geological history of Scotland. Take the 1.7km trail for a nice hike to see the surrounding mountains. If you get the brochure on the rock route...from the visitors center...More

Great stop, good path with rough steps allows everyone to get round. Our youngest managed with ease, only us geriatrics struggled a bit. Takes only 50 mind to do full circuit including the crags.

This is a walk through geologic time, with older rocks uplifted over younger ones. Plus they've taken the trouble to add art and inspiration to a lovely hike. Lots of views along the way.

Not your usual visitors centre but don't let looks fool you. Really interesting and full of information about rock formation and the mountains. Lots of interactive displays and activities. Super views as you are elevated and lovely walks. Definitely worth a visit.

Short drive north of Ullapool and you'll find this place. Besides some loos there's nothing here other than the Crag but we were so glad we did it. The climb was strenuous in parts and it can feel treacherous though I don't have the best...More

Knockan Crag is not a visitor centre in the usual sense of the word - there are no tea shops, indoor facilities or places to buy gifts. But that is why it is so brilliant! This is a stop-off on the road north from Ullapool...More

The place is self-explaining: You start your walk from an information point, which provides everything you need to know for the rest of your walks. There are 3 different tracks available, according to your fitness and the time you would like to spend in Knockan...More

Great information that explains Scotland's peculiar geology, and spectacular scenery to go with it. There are a range of engagement options, from an easy walk to the information centre (where most of the information is well displayed), to some short additional walks to the quarry...More
