Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Words do not do this beach justice! If it was 80 degrees and sunny, I would never know I was in Scotland in the Outer Hebrides. What an amazingly gorgeous beach. The sand is in its purest form and the water as blue as can be. The fact there were not many people there when we went made for such a dramatic sight. We walked and walked just admiring how clean and beautiful the beach is. We did a hardy soul take a dip in the water, he was a local of course. Very impressed we were. If you are there on a nice sunny warm day, I would highly recommend just chilling out for as much time as you can, something about a gorgeous beach hits just right.

We stayed next to the beach on a designated motorhome parking place (£5 to pay overnight - proceeds go to West Harris community Trust). It felt great to be supporting the local community. We ate at the local Tala Na Mara (brilliant).

Luskentyre beach is the most stunning beach I have ever visited, which is saying something, as I am in my seventieth year. When I first saw it my breath was literally taken away. It has beautiful sand and is never crowded. The sea is crystal clear and there are views across to Taransay.

The most amazing beach and scenery, definitely worth a visit! Not a huge amount of parking so I would suggest getting there early to get a spot. We arrived around 1pm on a nice day and probably got the last spot!

What visitors are not being told is that the only parking available was actually intended for legitimate cemetery users. Part of the unique culture of the islands demands peace and respect around cemeteries. Shamefully, tourists are not even being told that there is a cemetery adjacent to the beach, now the disrespectful behaviour of tourists is upsetting bereaved locals. Luskentyre is beautiful but it has a deeply held meaning for islanders as their families final resting place. The cemetery car park is not for beach users to abuse as a camp site, to hold barbecues and gatherings, a changing area (have some dignity) and the fence is not for drying clothes on. It is a place for quiet contemplation and if you can't behave with decency and dignity then stay away.

An amazing beach with sensational sand and turquoise sea. Quite a long drive with single track roads but well worth the effort. However parking at the official site is very limited especially if the weather is great. A helpful warden was there. We couldn’t park our Campervan so left and parked alongside a beautiful cemetery. There was a path down to the beach. An amazing vista, which was great for walking our dogs. Great photo opportunity too.

We had read about this beach and were also recommended it by our hotel. Unfortunately we visited on a day of pouring rain but even so we could see what a beautiful beach it is. Just a word of warning which we were given by local people. Access to the beach is by a very narrow single track road with some passing places. At the end is a very small car park. We did not have a problem getting there or parking due to the weather but we could see that on a sunny day access would be very difficult with cars and camper vans all trying to negotiate the single track road and inadequate passing spaces. Be warned!

On a par with the beaches in the Whitsundays, Australia. It is quite a long drive to the car park at the end of the road but well worth it for the stunning scenery. We visited on a sunny day in mid September and the car park was full so glad we did not attempt this in mid summer.

We made a diversion to stop here on our drive from Stornoway to Tarbert ferry. Most of the road for the 8 miles south of Tarbert is pretty good with a few sections narrowing down to one lane. The last 3 miles are really tough with a very narrow lane with sudden turns and blind hills and oncoming cars. We finally made it to the 3/4 mile long nice sand beach with expansive views over the sandy bay at low tide, then fought the 3 mile lane and the traffic back to the main highway. I can't imagine coming here in the busy summer season.

Add us to the list of impressed visitors. We spent a couple hours here on a stunningly beautiful day; mixed sun and dramatic clouds over the gradient of blue extending from the white sand shoreline. Not many others were there at the moment, so we had long stretches of beach to stroll along all by ourselves. Between the white sand, the blue water, the green grass covered dunes, and the dark distant mountains, we had a moment where we felt beyond the beach. No wonder that one source rated it as one of the top beaches in the world.
