Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thank you to Dave and the team. We have visited a couple of times now with guests and they really do enjoy the background that goes into a good sheepskin rug.
The small informal environment keeps things cozy too.

Please just keep doing what you are doing.

Brilliant place. Super friendly and informative Dave, even gave very good advice on local walk. Excellent local produce. We didn’t even know that we needed 2 sheepskins! Good tea room in a Yurt. Little visited but particularly beautiful peninsula on Skye.

Popped by on our way to Dunvegan. Great informative tour by Dave. Learning about the process of tanning from the beginning, to the finished product on the shelf.

What a little gem this place is... stunning sheep skin and wool items. We bought a hat and a sheep skin teddy bear which are absolutely gorgeous.. so tempted with a rug! Next time! Friendly staff would recommend

Such an interesting tour of the tannery conducted by Sarah, who was friendly and knowledgeable without pushing to sell any of the products — the perfect tour guide. No hard sell is needed, mind you, as the sheepskins are so tactile, it’s impossible to leave without one. Such warm, friendly staff, quality products and a lovely yurt cafe — try the soup! Skyeskyns is certainly worth a detour.

Had a lovely drive up to the tannery on a very sunny day - beautiful location.
The shop is gorgeous and the range of goods excellent, something for everyone.
The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgable... We did buy a lovely sheepskin!
The coffee and scones in the yurt were very nice too - we sat outside and soaked in the sun and the views. Well worth a visit.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere with a good range of quality skins and other locally sourced bits'n'bobs, all displayed beautifully in a surprisingly light and spacious upstairs gallery.

If you're travelling light, they are happy to arrange for things to be posted to your home.

For us, an added bonus was to be able to support a local, all-year-round, family business

Interesting though ‘tour’ felt a little bit over of an over statement - more a casual walkthrough! Expensive stuff though lovely and clearly a lot of work goes in to them but reindeer skins ……really ……on Skye…

Don’t need to book; just turn up. They’ll show you around the factory and explain the process; takes about 20 minutes. The showroom is in the attic, is beautifully presented and well stocked and has great views. You’re under no pressure to purchase; just walk around, try things on and they’ll answer any questions. We bought some boots and gloves; lovely products. As a bonus when you’ve finished looking around, they have a coffee shop in a yurt next door with lovely coffee and cake options.
