Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We are still waiting for a refund one month after two trips were cancelled due to bad weather. Our emails have been ignored and we cannot get through on the telephone because of an automated answer. We would prefer not to start a legal process to recover our funds but it seems we are left with no option.

I've phoned Go to St Kilda twice (auto message that the sailing season has ended) with no option to leave a voicemail and you are redirected to email or to leave a message on the website.
I have left two messages which have not been responded to (the first was well over a week ago) which is not a good indicator of their service. It might well be out of sailing season but considering you sell gift vouchers you must surely be expecting to operate some level of basic service year round?
Very poor seeing as you're the best reviewed tour operator (and in my opinion the handiest to get to seeing as you go from Skye) but sadly I'll have to look into one of your competitors at this rate.

Don't miss this trip!!! and even if you think you don't get seasick, prepare for the worst. The skipper and first mate were exceptional and took very good care of us. Knew their history and even got to hear the skipper speak Gaelic (so interesting!) The sea stacs and the voluminous amount of birds was staggering. I was so hoping to see puffins but it was too late by September to see them (darn!) This is a remote island and filled with an amazing history directly related to Skye. Read about Lady Grange before you go...saw some porpoises and possible a whale. A very full day! We got cake and coffee when we got aboard after our day on St. Kilda and then stopped at Harris for fuel. It was dark when we returned to Waternish, so book your dinner at Steins before you leave. Thanks, gentlemen for a wonderful life experience and day!

St Kilda was obviously amazing but I loved the journey as a whole; over the Minch thriough the Sound of Harris and that sense of travelling so far to the west to visit the place. Everything about the experience was first class; the crew, being inside in the cabin, out on deck. It was good to go round Boreray and the stacks first to gain that perspective of the place. It's simply incredible. This is a day I will always remember and I'm do glad to have finally made it.

A trip of a life time!!! Unforgettable! I have nothing but praise for 'Go to St Kilda'. They give you 'up to date' information and if the sun is shining and you are lucky enough to go to St Kilda, there is no trip anywhere on this planet to match it, especially if you love 'the wild' and 'wildlife!'. If you can camp, the campsite is 'magical'. The boat crews are amazing! They have very experienced captains and very knowledgeable crew who teach you all about the marine and bird life. They even go out of their way to show you the wildlife 'highlights' that other boats miss!!!! This includes the wildlife around Skye, North Uist, Harris and St Kilda! I cannot praise this trip with 'Go to St Kilda enough! '

I really don’t have the words to describe what an exceptional day I had with Go To St Kilda. The archipelago has long been a place I wanted to visit, and Go To St Kilda gave me that opportunity… and more. Willie, Gordon and Ali couldn’t have been more brilliant if they had tried: friendly, knowledgeable, kind, enthusiastic, funny… They showed us things I will never forget, from thousands of gannets, hundreds of puffins, pods of dolphins we could genuinely have touched from the boat, to the fascinating history of St Kilda itself. It was a trip of a lifetime, and I know I will be back again - and I won’t hesitate to book again with this fantastic company. Thank you, for everything.

I don’t think words can quite explain how incredible this trip was. Travelling to St. Kilda was extremely special. I can’t quite believe that I actually got to go and I’m still buzzing from the whole experience.

The whole team at ‘Go to St. Kilda’ are brilliant. Willie, Alistair and Gordon were superb guides, getting us across some choppy waters safely and doing so with enthusiasm, humour and reassurance. They’re so knowledgeable about the islands and the wildlife that you can spot throughout the journey and whilst you’re there! (We saw gannets, puffins and a pair of dolphins that were so close to our boat on the way home that we could almost touch them!)

The history of St. Kilda is also fascinating. I think I’ve purchased every guide and book about the place since our voyage so I can read everything about it.

If you’re thinking of going, just book and book with this company. They made the trip an experience I’ll never forget and I’ll definitely go back one day with them.

Oh my god what a day !!!!! A once in a lifetime trip. Loved everything about it. The skippers Willie, Alistair and Gordon are an asset to the company, they treated us perfectly and are so informative and knowledgeable. This trip was EVERYTHING I could have hoped for, Hirta has been on my bucket list for years and go st kilda made it a reality and the safety of customers is paramount to the team. We were treated like family. The journey is comfortable as it can be on North Atlantic waters bit the boat is lovely and comfortable. The touches like tea and cake for return journey were well received too!!! Seeing the sea stacks and Boreray and then travelling on to village bay was spectacular and all we ever imagined it to be. Loads of Information was handed out and given to us from the crew. I cannot recommend this company enough, worth every penny amd we will definitely return.

Wullie, Allister & Gordon you made our trip the most memorable one!!
Three amazing guys with the best stories to tell!
The detail in information given by Gordon as we were sailing round the sea stacks and then into village bay was second to none!
Tea/coffee and cake was a lovely touch on the way home.
This was a trip of a lifetime for us but I know one day we will be back and hopefully next time we will again have the pleasure of you three!!
You are all an absolute asset!

I couldn't recommend this more highly. A fantastic experience, all the more so due to being in the capable hands of Willie the skipper and Gordon our informative guide. Both were friendly, with a good sense of humour and founts of knowledge about all things St Kilda & its wildlife. Having mentioned I sometimes get travel sick, they kept kindly checking I was doing OK. Hilary was also great with providing information on the phone beforehand. The boat was clean and comfortable too. As for St Kilda itself - I'd have to write an essay! A great time all round.
