A truly beautiful garden, well worth a visit.
A huge garden with so many interesting areas that have been thoughtfully planted to reflect the landscape.
Can’t wait to return.

A haven of tranquillity, a riot of colour even this late in the season, full of the sound of bees, this magical garden is tucked away from the sea breezes in a world of its own. Winding paths lead you through each glorious mini-garden to the next, until you find yourself at the lake at the bottom of the “In Between”, and over a bridge into “The Beyond”. We could have spent all day sitting in the swing seat under the trees… As Monty Don says, “Go and see it!”

Very attractive plantsman's garden in a lovely setting, with views onto moorland. divided into garden rooms - lots of opportunities for surprises

This garden is basically the grounds of a small house in West Wales, that said it does stretch across a wide area. It is reached by a narrow lane off a narrow road!

There are lots of small garden ‘rooms’ containing many plants, flowers, trees etc all dotted with sculptures. Many plants were still flowering and all the plants looked in superb condition. It was interesting to walk round although we did not see it at its best as it was pouring with rain. It would be worth returning when the weather was better.

Set in stunning scenery, an impressive garden morphing seamlessly into the surrounding countryside whilst retaining a talented plantswoman’s eye for the unusual.

We visited at the end of August when there was plenty of late summer interest still developing.

Good paths around the house and the more formal areas, rougher in the wilder areas as you’d expect.

This garden is full of surprises, plants you would not believe could be grown outside at this latitude.

If you want immaculate lawns and pristine pathways go to Dyffryn Gardens, or Chatsworth.

If the thought of a tropical, formal, wild garden interests you then do visit Dyffryn Fernant Gardens!
I was inspired by the bold blocks of planting, the wild meadows intercepted with topiary yew, pittosporium and box and bold colour combinations of purple, magenta, yellow and white. So many unexpected statues and inspired uses of garden paraphernalia. I hope to go back one day soon.

Well worth a visit - but not if you like neat and tidy gardens. Bits of it are a bit untidy, but the overall feel is relaxed and a complete surprise given its surroundings. Great use of contrast in colour and form throughout the gardens, with lots of places to sit and enjoy the garden. The natural wildflower meadows and wetland areas are striking, and there are all sorts of interesting plants in the colourful areas.

I visited this garden with my Mum and son it was a 30 minute drive. We paid in advance £7 each although my Mum is a member of the RHS so didn't need to. The garden looked tired, neglected in places, unkempt and some of the paths were quite treacherous due to over grown plants and lack of maintenance, the map was difficult to follow. The photos on the website are far from reality. It really was not worth the money and we were disappointed to be honest.

This is a well reviewed garden so expected a lot. We found a weed infested garden with poor planting and nothing to recommend it.

This garden breaks a few 'rules' which is what makes it a really interesting place to visit. The trust placed on the visitor to check in, pay and help yourself to change is refreshing. The garden blends seamlessly into the surrounding Welsh landscape through the lack of strong visual boundaries and the use of informal plantings native plants and wildflowers. Its been a difficult period for gardeners, and gardens that are on public display, so dont expect perfection. Indeed its the lack of horticultural perfection and the wild informality that makes this such a lovely place to spend the afternoon, to take time, sit and contemplate. Stare at the hills, smell the flowers, whatch the dragonflies or even as we did spot and adder. Theres some unusual planting designs such as rectangles of grasses, and collections of plants near the house which really work. Its difference from so many other gardens makes it a really memorable place to visit. I really enjoyed my visit and the originality of the planting. Keep up the good work.
