Without a doubt, the path to the Capri lagoon is one of the most characteristic treks for those who visit the town of El Chalten. It has a basic to intermediate difficulty but it is worth doing the route of about 4km. During the walk there are ups and downs amid very beautiful views of the mountains and valleys. At various times you can see Mount Fitz Roy, although many times the clouds make it somewhat difficult to see the peak.
It is interesting after the effort of the tour to be able to access the lagoon itself with its crystalline waters and the magnificence of the landscape that reminds us a lot of the beautiful lakes of southern Argentina.
It is curious to see backpacker camps camping around the lagoon. It is well understood from the point of view of the beautiful surroundings, but it must also be noted that the place does not offer toilets or appropriate facilities to simplify the camper's stay.

Beautiful trail and lagoon, also excellent experience, highly recommended. The only thing is that you should not trust the weather below because once you get to the top it is completely different. We start with short sleeves and finish with a coat and raincoat, but it is still worth visiting.

We did the walk from El Chaltén to Laguna Capri. It is 4 km from the beginning of the trail plus the distance from your hotel, in my case about 1 km more. There are signs indicating what km we are at. The first 3 km are the steepest and the last is flatter.
For a long time the road borders the Río de las Revolucións and behind it you can see the snow-capped mountains. Then it crosses a forest with hundreds of trees and fallen trunks that looks like something out of a fairy tale. I had a lot of expectations about the lagoon but in reality the path is as beautiful as the lagoon itself.
When we arrived we went to the little beach next to the lagoon to eat the food. We couldn't see Fitz Roy because it was quite cloudy, but we could see the lower hills around it.
If you cannot do, as in my case, the full 10 km walk to Laguna de los Tres, this is a very good option with a divine landscape.
I had to return to see the hill on a clear day and do the trails that I didn't have time to travel.

We went with a transfer for one day, we didn't know much because it was raining. Picturesque town. I will go again but I would stay 3 or four days because there. It rains 2nd and 1st it is sunny and there is a lot to walk and get to know. We will be back soon!! I recommend it to those who like to walk👍💪

If you’re not up for walking too far then this is a nice trail and maybe only a few miles.
We did this as part of Laguna de los tres which was just an incredible day. Very long and hard but one of the most amazing walks we’ve done in the world.

Hello, it is a beautiful place. We went with my friend and our 9 year old children. Although at times the path seems difficult for people who do not have preparation, with some stops it is reached very well. And you can enjoy the beautiful place.

Not so far from El Chalten (4 km walking from the beginning of the path that leads to the Fitz Roy).
Relaxing and definitely worthy!

This is around a 7 km hike round trip. The first half going up is the most steep and strenuous. The paths are generally quite well kept. There is very little loose rock but there are lots of tree roots to navigate around. Hiking poles would have come in quite handy but you can do it without if you must. We wore our Nike’s for the trek as our hiking boots are back home and we did fine in basic athletic shoes. Take plenty of water and snacks. Dress in layers. It was hot when we began but upon arriving at Laguna Capri the wind across the water was quite cool. There was a toilet just before you get to the lagoon. We had great clear skies for an excellent view of Cerro Fitz Roy once we reached the lagoon. We are slow hikers who stop to take lots of photos so it took us over 3.5 hours to do the hike. We saw a fox and a flock of Austral parakeets along the trail.

We made a one day trip from el Calafate to El Chaltén by bus ( Chaltén travel- pick up from hotels around 7:15 am, main bus departures from main bus station at 8am to El Chaltén, takes 2,5 -3hrs to get there, cost 1200 pesos round trip per person - 60euros., back bus departures at 6pm from El Chaltén)
You r guided by National Park Employee about rules in the park and available self treks.
When you have one day there Laguna Capri is excellent-approx 2 hours one way from bus stop, not difficult path but after entering path in the forest you ll he Perón ce route going up. But really very nice trekking, you reach amazing views on Fitz Roy mountain and then you get to the lake. We were very happy we made it :)

If you decide to go to El Chalten, you have to make up your mind to walk. That's the greatest thing about El Chalten, there´s a lot to do, a lot to see. And everything is for free!! But you gotta hike. The head of the trail begins at the north end of town, at the end of San Martín Ave. You will see the entrance to the protected area. During the first hour, the trail is a steep slope. After an hour and a half you will find a sign that shows a bifurcation to Laguna Capri (left) or to the Fitz Roy (right). From the lagoon you will have a unique view of Fitz Roy and its surrounding peaks. If you have time (and stamina enough) you can follow to Poincenot (I didn't, hope to make it next time)

ciao a tutti.
