As you drive through here and notice the desolate landscape.. take a minute to detour down to this look out and ponder the terrible mistakes that humans have made and the scars we have left on an environment that will now never be the same.

Pretty awesome abandoned copper mine with spectacular views. Great landscapes with interesting points of interest. Well worth the visit.

After visiting Queenstown and look at the Iron Blow lookout one just wonder how devastating it could be by open cast mining taking out all the vegetation on the hill and made the damage irreversible.

Travelling west this is a short detour just before arriving in Queenstown. The lookout gives great views of the distant landscape, but more crucially demonstrated the effect of mining on the area. This is especially so when looking at the colour of the water below...More
