Wandered through here on a trip through for Blues festival. Saw the sign and proceeded to drive through this old cemetery, glad I did, an interesting glimpse into the past on rolling territory.

I love old cemeteries, and this is a good one. Soldiers who died in the Civil War are here as well as those who survived. The road meanders up a hill to some of the oldest plots. It is still active, and well maintained.

This place matters. The maple hill cemetery and confederate cemetery and monuments are special to Helena and the delta. You have to have been there to get it. Great view of the river on the way out.

Prettiest cemetery I think I've ever seen. Beautiful views and filled with history from confederate soldiers from the Battle of Helena

I always wonder about the Confederates - how were they treated, what is/was their stories, and where were they buried. This cemetery is very respectable for those who died for what they believed in.
