Beautiful waterfalls flowing down ancient rock bed in the glorious north of Argentina. Expect to see spectacular sunsets and desert flora. Bring water and sunscreen and sturdy shoes. Simple trekking will take two hours round trip for easy waterfall views. You can hire a local...More

No guides available on 1 January (should have anticipated that, I suppose) so we set out on our own. Beautiful location and an energetic hike/climb but a guide is essential. The path is unmarked and there are lots of sizeable rocks to navigate. Definitely need...More

Beautiful red rocked landscape amidst dry dessert greenery with steep slippery stone walkways and moments of danger with hidden crevices to climb mean you should get a guide. Each waterfall will set you back about 40 pesos per person so it’s worth it. Bring sturdy...More

We read all the reviews and decided not to take a guide. Frustratingly we never made it to the end as we lost the trail. After the '7 Cascades' on Maps.me the trail becomes hard to follow and you have to scramble up the rocks....More

Take the taxi to the start of the walk. There the guides will try to convince you to hire them (around 250 pesos). We didn't. It's fun to find your way climbing the rocks, you just have to follow the river up to the waterfall....More

There are many tour companies that offer to take you to the base and to purchase a guide for you. I would recommend taking a taxi to the base (70 - 75 pesos) and then hiking by yourself or with your group! There are guides...More

From Cafayate we took a taxi (70 Pesos) to get to the starting point of the hike. If we wanted we could have hired a guide that shows the way. However, we decided to go on our own. After (mandatory) registration you could easily start...More

An absolute must do when in Cafayate but a few things you should know! It is more of a walk/climb as opposed to real trekking. To give some context, my partner and I are in our mid twenties and reasonably fit but by no means...More

We didn't want to take a guide, so we downloaded the route onto mapsme, (great offline navigation app). Taxi to the trail head cost 70 pesos, the taxi driver also bypassed the location where the guides can be rented so we could avoid the hassle....More

We went here after much research about whether to get a guide or not. We decided against it as we have some prior experience with the outdoors. There is a pretty well marked trail for most of the walk. Following the river also helped us...More
