My trip to Simien Mountains was something i will never forget in my life the nature of the mountains, the water falls, the sky, it was like I'm walking on the sky. I met the people who were living there so it was a wonderful experience.

Jemal/Simien Park Tours did a first rate job. Jemal guided us through this part of our Trip to Ethiopia. The trip was organised perfectly; Jemal gave us from the first moment a really good feeling; it was great to travel with him, his big knowledge about his country (nature, culture, birds) and his friendly and helpful personality makes this trip unforgettable.

My girlfriend and I traveled to Ethiopia last month. Jemal was one of our guides and drivers through Inside Ethiopia while we traveled from Gondar to Axum. Jemal spoke very good English and was very informative about the areas we visited. On request for nightlife recommendations in Bahia Dar he brought us to an incredible spot for live music and dance with few tourist. It was a memorable event and we thank Jemal for the memories! Would highly recommend Jemal for your future adventures in Ethiopia.

Thank you Jemal for arranging a wonderful day trip for us to Simien Mountains. Everything went smoothly even though we never met and all agreement was done via email. The car was very comfortable and you had a super driver, Assefa. He drove calmly and made sure we were fine at every bump. Our day was memorable – a good combination of sight seeings on the way, a couple of hours hiking, a nice picnic lunch, and an interesting encounter with a big community of Gelada! We loved to see villages and daily life as we drove and Assefa was so kind to stop or slowed down for us to take pictures. Also, thank you for flexibility in timing so that we could have dinner in town before getting back to our hotel. Lastly, a big thank for your help communicating with the hotel owner about our booking. We strongly recommend Simein Park Tours to anyone who visits Gonder.

First off, the organization was great: food, guide, pickup/dropoff, etc. Everything that was directly in the power of Jemal to arrange went great. The equipment provided by Jemal was good, excellent sleeping bag that was completely fine even for the below-freezing weather of Geech. Food was good and there was enough variety for the 4D/3N trip.
Second off, the whole Simien park managers and guide companies really need to get together to do a better job of park management, it's a shame that even in the campsites next to the main road like Sankaber and Chenek that there is a lot of trash around, and with trash pits rather than any longer-term management of the problem. Kind of surprising also that there's no electricity or even a basic water tap at any of the campsites, despite there being transmission lines running literally through the camps (except Geech, which is actually quite remote). The cooks from Simien Park Tours did make us warm water to wash up in the morning and evening, but it's really something that the park service should install—a basic sink at the toilets, like you'd see at even the most basic camp sites in Kenya or Tanzania.
5* rating here, as everything within Jemal's direct power to manage was great, but we were very glad to get back to Gondar at the end, and we rather wished we had done a 3D/2N trip instead, staying at Geech and Chenek, and having skipped Sankaber. We had been above 2000m for two weeks before our hike so the additional "relaxed" day was unnecessary, but for people who have just recently flown into Addis, it might be nice to have. Geech was by far our favorite campsite, even though it was freezing cold with actual ice on the ground in the morning.
Saw 3 wolves, plenty of geladas, and the scenery was pretty stunning. The views facing to the far north were hazy due to dry season and the high levels of dust in Tigray. Still, many fantastic views even in the middle of dry season, especially near Imet Gogo facing east towards Ras Dejen. The views north are probably incredible at the beginning of dry season, when the Tigrayan dust is all out of the atmosphere.
All in all would highly recommend to any friends going to Ethiopia, but I'd probably recommend the 3D/2N trip staying at Geech and Chenek for most people. Be aware that a significant level of fitness is required on the 'standard' route! We're in our 30s and hike frequently in Switzerland, and it was not a walk in the park.

Jemal is a well spoken guy, very informative and really kind. It was refreshing to sit with him and be able to talk about anything and everything regarding Ethiopia and actually have precise thoughtful answers. Established national guide and the best we’ve met during our trip there, we loved his pertinence, his honesty and just in a world where the tourism industry is all about inflating costs towards non suspecting foreigners.

We had a great time in Simiens and explored so much wildlife and incredible views. Jemal was super responsive before the trip and answered all our questions. We had delicious meals and were well taken care of throughout the 4 days of trekking. Jemal is a great guy, very professional and good at spotting Ibex, Abyssinian wolves and explain about the national park. I highly recommend booking a trip with Jemal!

Jamal and his team made our trip exceptional! We met for coffee the day before our trek started to run through the plans and ask any last minute questions. The trek started after a short drive into the Simiens from Gondar with incredible views right from the beginning. We saw Ibex, bearded vultures, Abyssinian wolves and Gilada monkeys - all we had hoped for. The views were exceptional all through our 4-day hike. The camps were great, with Jamal's team of chef and su-chef preparing coffee and snacks after our full day of hiking and delicious dinners in the evenings. There was even a cake and a bottle of wine to celebrate our Christmas! Jamal was always responsive, quick to adapt plans in advance of our trip and gave a lot of information about the landscape, wildlife and much more. Highly recommend a tour with Jamal - thank you!

Jemal and the Simien Park team led an amazing day tour to the Simien mountains from Gondar. He was a great driver, who shared interesting facts along the way. And when we arrived at the Park itself, he handled everything needed to make it a great tour! We saw unreal views and amazing wildlife!
