We took a power boat out to the island and walked around the periphery. It was incredible to walk amongst giraffes, water buck, wildebeest, zebras and antelope. Surprisingly, they kept their distance but allowed us to approach as long as we didn't more too quickly.

My girlfriend and I really liked this park. Cheapest way to go is by own car (check google maps satelite pictures for route). From the main road you go to the "sanctuary farm" for which you have to pay 300 shilling to enter in total...More

Crescent island being a place where there are no predators, one can experience a walking safari. We spotted a lot of Impala, Wildebeest, Giraffe and a host of beautiful birds. There are also many hippos by the water.

It's a wonderful experience to walk around on Crescent Island with zebras, giraffes, impala, gazelles, and the enigmatic wildebeest. The wildebeest is determined to keep a safe distance, though all the other animals are not that shy. The giraffes let you be pretty close so...More

After 4 days of intense safari, the walking tour of Crescent Island was a welcome break. The absence of dangerous predators let us walk up close to giraffes, zebras, horses, impalas, gazelles and water bucks. You can see flamingoes, pelicans, hippos, african fish eagle, cormorants,...More

Seriously, this place shouldn't exist. The makers of Out of Africa moved a bunch of giraffes, gazelles, impalas, buffalo, horses, and zebras to a beautiful island on a freshwater lake and left them there once they were done shooting. The result is that the animals...More

Yes it feels safe. The Hippos are in a specific area. The boat doesn't go too close to the Hippos anyway. It's a lovely quiet ride. I had checked the weather forecast for the day we were planning to go. It was going to be... More

We arrived by road. Yes I would say 2 hours is plenty of time to wander around and I can't answer about the guide as we came with our own guide. Enjoy.
