Interesting!
Jan 2021
If you enjoy history and war memories - you must go. It was interesting and we learnt quite a bit about the towns involvement in the wars.

Well kept
Sep 2020
The one good thing is that you can see the memorial for free. It's well kept and the gardens around it are lovely. If you are in the area go look at it.

We did a 'car tour' of the town & came across this lovely War memorial
Oct 2019
We walked around the little park & were impressed by the memorial. It is free & easy to access & in the centre of town. Well worth it if you are in Graffe Reinet

If you come on the right day.

On some Saturdays you can find pan cakes and food stalls in front of the Town Hall. You find lovely items people make and sell.

Get rid of the vagrants!
Jun 2019 • Family
I love memorials & statues and this one is beautiful as are the rest.

It is a real pity that the area where the memorial is situated is filthy with papers and rubbish strewn all over. There seem to be vagrants who live/sleep there and we didn’t feel safe being there.

This seems to be the general trend in most town in SA these days unfortunately.

Not worth driving there
Jan 2017
Unless you are in town, do not go out of your way to see this. It is a beautiful town and the memorial and town hall is immaculate. However, it is not particularly special, except for the state of its upkeep

Historical site run down
Jan 2017 • Solo
Ibwas sad to see that this historical site is being ruined by what looks like vagrants. One can see that the place was previously well kept. Although the memorial Itself not being vandalised, the garden in which the memorial stands is filthy and run down. Be vigilant in and around this area.

Beautiful statue and wonderful historic buildings
Nov 2016 • Solo
Graaf-Rienet is such a fascinating town with so much history and wonderful architecture.
The Tourism Info office will provide you with a map and list of attractions/National Monuments.
Take care of your camera and be aware of your surroundings - as is the case photographing any South African National Monument.
The Town Hall in Church square overlooks the Church Square gardens and the lovely Graaf-Rienet War Memorial, commemorating those who died in the two World Wars and South Africa’s Border War.

Beautiful!
Nov 2016 • Couples
Especially as it is surrounded by the Jakaranda trees which are in full bloom in the spring/summer. Also very pretty at night with the lighting.
