7 Machame route Treks

Machame route approaches Kilimanjaro through forest and moorland from the south-west, and joins the Shira route before traversing beneath the southern ice fields of Kibo. The rainforest is extremely beautiful and there is a tangible sense of wilderness once the higher elevations are reached. The views of Mt. Meru floating on the clouds are simply unforgettable. We make our final ascent by the Barafu route. The seven day itinerary gives maximum possible acclimatization, and also gives us plenty of time to enjoy the magnificent scenery. This is our first choice when choosing The Machame Route and it Takes 7 Days Climbing Kilimanjaro.

8-Day Kilimanjaro Guided Hiking Adventure by the Marangu Route

The Marangu Route 6 Days is the easiest route to climb to Uhuru Peak, the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is a preferred route for many travelers because of the different accommodation facilities that are available on the Route. Tourists can sleep in comfortable huts and in some of them, there is running water. It is possible to reach the summit in 5 days using the Marangu Route, however, for better acclimatization, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro on Marangu Route 6 days is preferred to give a far better and more enjoyable trip.

Kilimanjaro Bound has taken many of our clients to the summit using Marangu Route 6 Days and we guarantee that you shall be one of the successful travelers to make it all the way to Uhuru Peak, the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and the second-highest point on the planet.
Often selected by unprepared, inexperienced climbers because of its reputation for being the “easiest” route, attributing to the lower success rate.

8-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Machame Route Climb with Meals

Nicknamed the "Whiskey" route because the route is popularized as somewhat difficult and more expensive than the Marangu route. On an overall comparison of the routes to scale Kilimanjaro, this is one of the best routes to take, both in terms of acclimatization and cost.

The Machame route is beautiful and varied. However, due to its popularity, there are increased numbers of trekkers, it loses some of its splendor. The Machame route approaches the summit from the southwest and descends using the Mweka route, rewarding climbers with views of the expansive Shira Plateau, an optional scramble up Lava Tower, a climb up the Great Barranco Wall, and a traverse underneath Kilimanjaro’s southern ice field.

Challenging trek with stunning scenery through 5 diverse climatic zones. Good opportunity to split pre-summit day climb to leave climbers rested before summiting.

Rongai Route 8 Day Mount Kilimanjaro Climb

The Rongai route is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan border. Though gaining popularity amongst climbers, Rongai has low traffic. It is the preferred route for those looking for an alternative to the crowded Marangu route, for those who would like a more remote hike, and for those who are climbing during the rainy season (the north side receives less precipitation).

The minimum number of days required for this route is six days, and seven days are recommended.

Although the scenery is not as varied as the western routes, Rongai makes up for this by passing through true wilderness areas for days before joining the Marangu route at Kibo camp. This route descends down the Marangu route. Rongai is a moderately difficult route and is highly recommended, especially for those with less backpacking experience.

I did the Kilimanjaro trek with Kilimanjaro Bound and had a great time. The guides are constantly checking everyone's ok, well-fed, drinking water and monitoring altitude sickness. Food was delicious for a 6 day Kilimanjaro trek, camping gear's, tents etc were all in good condition. Guides, cook and porter's was friendly and easy to speak to. Was well run from start to finish, and they have a good reputation for treating their porters well

Agray and William of Kilimanjaro Bound are excellent guides who kept our small group of four on track and motivated to the top, even helping carry the packs of our senior members at times. They were able to accommodate the three of us going to the top and the one going half way. The crew was great - they were very helpful and always had camp set up in advance of our daily arrivals - much appreciated as you stumble in camp after a long day :). Tea time and meals were always welcome and excellent nourishment after a good day of hiking. Most importantly, when one of our final group showed signs of mountain sickness on the descent, they quickly ensured that he was taken down to Moshi for attention. The trek itself is amazing, we enjoyed passing through different ecoregions and landscapes each day. The final climb at midnight to the top is strenuous but worth it. We were greeted to a spectacular sunrise on our final walk along the top to the summit. We have great memories of our adventure. We took this 8-day trip in the first week of January 2020 just before COVID became a global pandemic, so cannot comment on how this tour ensures health and safety against COVID, but given the care we received we are sure that they are handling it capably. We hope that tourism rebounds soon in East Africa, its a lifetime experience for visitors and many livelihoods depend on the work associated with trekking Kilimanjaro. A shout out as well to Absolute Africa! They provided a seamless link between our 2 week safari with them in Kenya and Tanzania and our arrival in Moshi for the Kili trek.

We have just come back from a 7 days Machame trek to Uhuru Peak with the amazing crew from Kilimanjaro Bound, incl. our guides Aggrey and William. The trek itself is an experience of a lifetime and offers stunning landscapes. We chose this route due to its acclimatization profile. The trek is still a challenge but thanks to our team we made it safely to the top. We also recommend booking with Kilimanjaro Bound. Samson, the company's owner, has been to the peak many times himself. During the last-minute booking process, he was always very responsive. We had a very detailed pre-trek briefing with Samson and Aggrey. During the trek, Aggrey and William made sure we walked "pole pole" to acclimatize properly. Also, they shared their interesting knowledge of plants / other facts and William entertained us with some singing along the way. The entire team always made us feel welcome, whenever we arrived at the camp, our tent was already ready, with tea waiting for us. . Without their work we would have not made it. When climbing Kilimanjaro, AMS is an important issue. We followed the golden rules (e.g. drinking/eating VERY much) and had only minor symptoms. Our guides checked our pulse/oxygen level every day, carried Diamox and also brought an oxygen mask for the summit day. All things considered, we highly recommend choosing Kilimanjaro Bound for your trek! It is a reliable company with lots of experience and you will have a fantastic time on the mountain with them.

We just got back from a 7 day Kilimanjaro, Machame hike. Everyone made it in our group of nine. We couldn't have done it without Aggrey and the rest of the crew. The meals was delicious, the porters were taking care of groups every need along the way. The assistant guides kept our energy level up, and Samson was always quick to respond to our questions leading up to our arrival ... Kilimanjaro Bound though was incredible and should be at the top of any list of best outfitters.

This was the best last minute decision we made in our whole time in Africa. Sam made our trip and experience amazing. No problem to big and all done with easy chilled vibe. We had an awesome time on this well organized trip. We see such a variety of animals and landscapes I've dreamed of for many years. Vehicles, accommodation and food were great quality and the guides both knowledgeable and fun. I would highly recommend the trip we did taking in Serengeti - Ngorongoro - Manyara - and more! Sam and his team can make things work for whatever your needs are. We used him again to take a friend a month after we did. Get it booked and enjoy the experience for very good price
