Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sometimes ago, i walked there to clean up the area with some friends from earth hour. the bridge are pretty small and made up of wood. the place is filled with mangrove, need more trash bin and cleaners responsible, as it is close to residence.
you can find bekantan here, but not all times, nice to experience this conservation area.

This was really bad! We spend there 1 hour and went out. There is even for Indonesia a lot of garbage in this place. Don't loose your time and money to go there.

Best mangrove tracks ever. The forest is very fresh and clean. The wooden tracks along the forest make us stay there for day long. Bring a long your friends and relatives and have fun in this mangrove forest. For entering the forest you must first contact or visit the guard house, which placed in front of the tracks gate. Give approximately 10k rupiah per person as a charge to entering the forest.

This place is like a hidden treasure in the city.
Located only 15 minutes by car from the city center, you' ll be wowed by the quiet mangrove forest.
It has a wooden bridge along the forest, make it easier to walk and see around.
Only +/- 800 meters long, you''ll enjoy your visit.
You can see variety of small crabs with colorful claw and some birds.
There is no fee to enter this area, but usually some local lady will ask you for entrance fee (for maintenance, she said), tho she won't give you any tickets. Just ask her for tickets if she ask your money, or you can give her small money if you don't mind.

Guide spoke very little english so we didn't get a lot of information but the boat trip was great and we saw lots of proboscis monkeys. Guide stopped, reversed and repositioned the boat so we would get the best view and photo opportunities. Loved it and would recommend it to all visitors.

Having booked a car through our hotel, it was easy to get there - our driver just took us there!

It is a beautiful green location and obviously well looked after - very clean. In fact wedding photos were being taken when we arrived!

We enjoyed the trip in the boat on the water with our guides - so close to the mangroves - we saw birds, amphibious fish and of course bekantan!

Green and serenity, that's all in my mind when crossing this wonderful spot. The air so fresh, and only a few minutes from city center. Must be visited when you go to Balikpapan.
