We perform checks on reviews.
Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Whilst a bule will usually be exploited by the locals at a market like this... I found the prices to be good be fair (especially if you speak the language). The range is great and the food is fresh.

At the first time you heard this name, you'll think that this place just the ordinary traditional market. But you have to visit to know whats inside :D

At this place you'll find a lot of seller which most of them selling the local souvenir, from jewelry to clothes. You can also find "gigi beruang" here, yes.. i found it with an effort hehe..

Their price is depend of the thing you want to buy, start from 10K rupiah for bracelet, and 300K rupiah for Gigi beruang. But thats ok for me because it is a rarely item..

Definitely will coming back to re-visit

Wherever you visit a place, make sure to bring souvenir of the place. And this place is the center of souvenirs for Kalimantan/Borneo.

You can get almost everything here. From bracelet, necklace, key chain, clothes to some traditional medicine.

Though they're plenty of store, basically they're all the same (items and price). So, if you're good at negotiation, you might get a bargain.

The name of the place mean vegetable farm market.. but the commodities sold in this place is gemstone .. we can buy a varieties kinds of gemstones here.. ruby, emerald, diamond, sapphire, ametis etc. We also can choose the ring which is made by silver, gold, titanium etc .. fit with our fingers size .. Please before you agree with the price make some negotiation first.. and just be sure the gemstone you choose is the real gemstone .. as we all know .. man can made every kind of gemstone include the diamond .. just look at the stone very careful before decide to buy .. but most of the trader are good man ..so its not fair if we suspect all of them are cheating us

It is better than Samarinda's. Very similar with Sarawak's. Some souvenirs are cheaper than Samarinda's

The place' name does not define the activity there. There were no vegetable sellers therefore no buyer. So what actually the seller sell there? Gem stones. Yes many people come to vegetable garden market for dealing with various kinds of gem stones.
The market opens from 9 am till 4 pm, monday to sunday

Do not miss to go to this market as you will b amused with the items being sold which are rich of East Kalimantan's culture. Take home a piece of East Kalimantan's batik or, some fancy Dayak's headgear for decorations with few accessories showcasing the Dayaks motives on its beads necklace or rattan/ beads bracelet.

I think this market is one of the best handmade and souvenir centre in Balikpapan. I bought a bag made from a rattan and it is so cute! They also have store that sells souvenir about Balikpapan, such as t shirt etc. But make sure you bought the best quality t shirt because most of them made from a kind of cotton which make you feel hot when wearing it.
