After an interesting visit to the "high quality" workshop with our private guide, we were ushered to the shop. To be nice, i opted to get two lacquer bangles. I later discovered that was sold with a defect. The next day that same bangle had a serious scratch. We were told that the lacquerware in that workshop is made to last forever. Beware.

It is fascinating to see how the lacquerware is made and the amount of work and time it takes to make these beautiful items. They do not pressurise you into buying and are happy to share the working of the place.

I had never been to a lacquerware workshop earlier and the craftsmanship and the end products were so impressive. Every piece made there was precious. Hats off to the art and craftsmanship.

That shop was established by the last generation of U Ba Nyein ( The founder and craftsmanship of Bagan Ancient Lacquerware making).You can also taste the pickle tea. Artistic and masterpieces of rare lacquer ware products. You can also see their social page @aktlacqureware in Facebook.
