Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The fort requires about 20 min hike up the mountain to get to but it’s worth it. It’s an old fort that overlooks the junction of rivers meeting. It also gives great views of the valley.
The terrain is a bit rocky so you will need good hiking shoes to go up the fort. An old guard site at the gate of the fort who takes care of it. He makes amazing tea if you are interested. I suggest giving him some tip, I am sure he would be appreciative.
If you are not short of time, stay up the fort, enjoy the views and enjoy the story of this fort from the guide you are with.
P.S. you do not need a guide to go up there.
All in all, great experience. A must do if you are in Skardu

I got the oppertunity with Apricot tours on my way to K2 base camp to visit Kharphocho fort which was built at end of 16th Century by King Ali Sher Khan Anchan. The visit was added in to the tour as freebe. it is on a mountain near the city. Track to top is not very well maintained , but realtively easily manageable. There are few rooms left at the top which are in very poor condition. There was a house keeper staying in, but no facilities. There is an old 900 year old mosque at the top which has some beautiful wood work on doors and windows. There were signs of some restoration work going but far from complete. Views of the town and the river from the top of Forte are breath taking. There was litter around left by visiotrs which can be cleeared and instructions can be put by tourism department to mkae it more presentable. I was reading on Google and Wikipedia about it s history which was intersting to say the least. Recomended free trot if you are in Skardu. Take some water with you on a hot day. In UK they would have put £10 entry fee on this visit.

The place has its own character and feel, demonstrating how kings and queens (of the local area) use to live along with their family and servants. There are rooms available for stay as well inside the Fort (though very expensive). The food is very nice so plan a lunch if you are visiting.

Condition of the fort is very bad (garbage, broken down walls/roofs, scribblings on most of the walls). Nonetheless they charge foreigners 200 PKR to visit it.
From the fort you can enjoy a beautiful view over Skardu and climbing up the rocky path to the entry door is recommendable.

Its worth the hike up. Wear comfortable shoes. The fort is poorly preserved but the view on top of the whole Skardu is really beautiful. It takes 15mins to go up for people who are fit. Don’t expect much from the fort, its just the view on the top

Great hill fort to wander round, just a shame there is nothing to read and learn about it whilst you're there. But maybe understandable why there isn't! Great views along the river aswell
