It's a very short visit, when you crawl for a couple of feet and boom you'll see a view of the river. It's nothing extraordinary that'll take your breath away however the history behind the cave is cool.

Just a short and scenic drive out of Cagayan De Oro. A great little day trip with a bit of history to it. Thr cave is nice and cool on a hot day and at the other end is a great view of the Cagayan River.

Well... it is a cave. And a small short cave at that. Well it was more of a short tunnel. It holds a significant historical importance thou since according to historians this cave was used by the resistance as a hideout during the invasion of the Japanese. ( All these info are written on the plaque at the entrance).

Tha cave is a historic site of the Battle of Macahambus in 1900 which marked the Filipinos' first victory against the American during the Philippine - American war. A Marker of the National Historical Institute is placed at the entrance of the cave. The cave is a short cavern that leads to a breathtaking view of the Cagayan de Oro... More

We passed by this cave on the way to our White Water Rafting adventure. It is quite dark, and since we were going rafting, we had no means of lighting the cave, and it just ends abruptly showing the CDO River course where we would be rafting. It is along a winding highway and might easily be missed. If you... More

We dropped by at Macahumbas cave before proceeding to our white river rafting ride. It's like a tunnel and the end part is a cliff overlooking Cagayan River. You should watch your steps,it's dark inside the cave. There's nothing much to see but the history of this place is an additional factor.

The place is free for the visitors. The cave is not that big and just enough for 10-15 people to fit in. No more trace of stalagmites and stalactites. What you will see there are garbages left by irresponsible visitors and vandalisms on the walls of the cave. The dead end of the cave is a cliff overviewing the Cagayan... More

This cave is very interesting and worth the visit. It was used during World War II by fighter against the Japaneses. It is not that long and comes out on the other side of the mountain. Plus the hills it is located in are beautiful to see.
