Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you want to see a glimpse of the past, I recommend this place. Shin Saimdang is one of the best known woman in Korean history and here you get to know about her and her life a little bit more. There are digitalised arts of Sin Saimdang in the houses, brief explanation of her life, honestly loved the place.
Also it’s a great place for a walk. Beautiful scenery, flowers and bamboo forests. It is a worth visiting place.

It's a really good place to walk.
I felt the greatness of 신사임당 and 율곡이이 when I saw the explanations written here and there.
If you make a reservation, you can listen to cultural tourism commentary.
And you can see 오죽 that are black bamboo.
It's a place where history seems to live.
If you go to Gangneung, I recommend you to visit here.

It's the home of the most well know mother and son in Korea history. (Their picture are on Korea money note ₩50000 and ₩5000).
There are lots of interesting exhibits of paintings, items used at their time as well as their houses. However, same as other tourist locations, the main descriptions are in Korean only with little English supported. Please do your homework before go there, then you'll not feel boring like my friends did.

This beautiful Yangban (Korean aristocracy) house is a great place to visit in Gangeung. The house is most known for the home of Sinsaimdang (1504-1551) and her son Yulgok (scholar and politician of the Joseon Period) who was born here. If you don't have time to look up these two well-known figures of the Joseon dynasty, take out your money! The 5,000 won note features Yulgok, the 50,000 won note features his mother Sinsaimdang.

Ojukheon House is one of the oldest wooden residential buildings in Korea. The grounds are pleasant, and the (black) bamboo is picturesque.

Ojuk means black bamboo. There was a birthplace of Scholar Yul-gok and His Mother Shin Sa-im-dang. Yulgok was described in 5,000 won bill, and Shin Saimdang in 50,000 won bill. This place was some Korean-style house and some museum. About 1 hour or more, you can enjoy Korean history and atmosphere.

Ojukheon is the perfect place to learn more about two important characters in Korean history - Yi Yulgok and Sin Samidang. Check out the birthplace of this mother and son pair. The sprawling complex is a peaceful, tranquil and serene place and provides many photos spots! Do remember to take a photo of the iconic view which is printed on the Korean banknote.

Sin Saimdang and her son YulGok are two fascinating and important Korean historical figures. You will come away with much more understanding and appreciation of their portraits on the 50,000 and 5,000 won notes respectively after a short visit to these grounds. The museum did a nice job with the English translations and we felt that we learned a lot during our 30 minute tour of the museum and grounds.

Beautiful, but many modern updates to the grounds. some historical education and museums available to see. Many people, very crowded and very sunny, not much shade on the grounds.
