I'm a relatively high handicap once a week golfer but I was in Juan Dolio and wanted to spend time at Los Marlins which is now Metro Country Club, a private Club that allows guests to play. The Pro Shop was friendly and helpful. My round cost $65.00US and $30.00 for club rental. The rental club pool was just fair. However, the course was in really great shape. There was no charge for a caddie. They work strictly on tips. My caddie was Juan and he was great. With his limited English and my limited Spanish, we had no problem communicating and he really made my round enjoyable. I probably would up over tipping Juan a little, but I really liked him and certainly could afford it. I very much enjoyed my round of golf and played much better than I normally do. Probably thanks to Juan. The only negative was that my Garmin S2 did not pick up the course. It picked up the public course in Juan Dolio and even the big one in La Romana, but not Los Marlins. Bottom line, I was very happy.

What I paid: Taxi $80 round trip Green Fee: $60 Caddy: $20 Club Rental: $25 Great shape, challenging holes, very little water. Not on the beach, but in a good community. Caddy was great, helped read greens. Would go back (I have to find a cheaper taxi from El Soco next time, though... not much negotiating available from resort).
