we went there with friends, it was full of locals, it was Sunday. So if you enjoy to be in a local ambience you will love it. the sand and the sea is wonderful and you have the opportunity to observe local people enjoying the seaside. There are a couple of cafes shags around but they might be below your expectations

The Mararikulam beach is a nice place to ease yourself from the hustle and the bustle of the mad city rush. The cleaniness has to be improved and more amenities need to be provided. I had disposed off quite a few plastic bottles littered on the beach. Excercise caution when entering the waters as the sand tends to disappear under your feet. Best time early mornings and evenings.

Beach was smelly with rubbish. Daily fish auction held on the beach and I think fish scraps were left to rot.. It’s a shame the beach cafe & stall holders don’t pick up the rubbish, it would make a big difference. Once near the sea it’s clean and fresh. I didn’t go in the sea as I read that the fishermen had their daily Pooh in the sea 😩

The beach is long and 'looks' clean on first view. When we stayed in a beach resort, we saw the dirty habit of open defecation by local people all along the long coast. No place is spared. When our children wanted to play in beach sand, we could not allow them...The beach looks white on the surface but sadly, the water and sand are all contaminated by human feces...The ground water level was just within a feet from ground in June 2016. Then we realized how bad was the situation for public health, let alone for tourists. Let the local authorities wake up and do the necessary sanitary activities ASAP...

Started our recent trip to India here and was not disappointed
Resort excellent staff so polite and helpful, food off the clock excellent
Everyone at the hotel happy to chat and engage with each other . Also recommend u do the overnight lake boat trip I was surprised that u have your own boat with crew and chef private air conditioned room and bathroom with white linen sheets private dining room
The entire day takes u around a fantastic lake and u see some amazing wildlife we were also luck to see the annual dragon boat festival which had been postponed because of the recent floods
Overall this is another five star hotel with great facilities and staff and great value for money
This and other part of our trip booked through beckon travel agency who were also excellent and when travelling to India next time will only use this company and in particular nayleem (she was outstanding in organising our trip and the attention to detail was 6 Star )

The main entrance to this beach, off beach road, has 5 or 6 food & drink stalls and 2 ice cream vans. There are empty plastic drink bottles, ice cream wrappers and other litter left lying all over the beach. It's such a shame because this is actually a beautiful and very long stretch of beach with soft sand. We turned left and walked along another 10-15 mins and you can start to escape the rubbish, although people still leave empty plastic water bottles here and there - WHY??? Theres very little natural shade to be found, plastic chairs and an umbrella can be rented for 50 rupees and hour, or walk further on and it's 150 rupees all day. It's much quieter the further you walk and you can get a little stretch of beach to yourself. We even saw 5 dolphins swim by. Swimming was good too, it gets pretty deep very quickly but was not as tough as the sea further south at Varkala. Foreign tourists were wearing bikinis here and there were relatively very few stares or small groups of men wandering up and down the beach looking at the women. It would be a stunningly beautiful beach if it wasn't for all the rubbish left on the sand.

This is a lovely white sand beach, with palm and coconut trees for shade. Some sunbeds are available but not too many, so I found the best bet is to slightly overpay on day 1 (they are very cheap anyway) and then pre-book at a slightly lower rate for the following days with the same guy, and he will hold it for you (well, at least our one did).
The sea can be quite rough at times, and even when it looks fairly calm, it gets deep quite quickly and there is a strong undertow, so non swimmers beware (no lifeguards).
There is not much in the way of refreshment on the beach - Mariyas café is right by the entrance, so gets quite busy at lunchtimes, and can sometimes run out of food. There is also an ice cream van, a deep fried veg stall and a Cool Bar (no alcohol) just as you get to the beach.
Just one thing to remember - I would suggest that when you get to the beach, turn left at the big white cross. Right is where the fishermen bring their boats into shore, and that is where they seem to do their business (and I don't mean selling their fish !). The left hand side is therefore a lot cleaner.

We found that this beach is a little bit out of the way from most tourist spots in the area, which makes it relatively unspoilt. Just coconut palm trees and small local fishing vessels along a long sandy beach. There are a smattering of small guesthouses along the beachfront, some with basic restaurants (like the Neena Beach restaurant) but apart from that there are very few other amenities. If you want to relax on a perfect white sandy beach, without any intrusions then this is the perfect getaway.

Buenos dias, estamos alojados en el Hotel Marari Beach y queremos saber donde podemos ver a los pescadores que salen o llegan de pescar.
Muchas gracias
