Visited today and have to say we had a lovely time with our granddaughter. We had the steak pie and chips. Steak so very tender it was just gorgeous. Cover charge we did not mind at all. Staff worked very hard. Changing room for baby was lovely. Next we went down to pond to feed the ducks. Never knew pond existed before and you can get duck food for a donation at the shop which sells the most lovely cakes and pies as well as toys and beautiful gifts. Next we went to see the aquarium. Then went around the outdoor areas. Had a lovely time. So much more to this garden centre than I realised. Will definitely be back.

After reading so many negative reviews and the garden centre charging £1 per person, I wasn’t holding much hope after a friend suggested we meet as it was in the middle of where we both live. The cafe was very busy, however there was a side room free where we both could sit in. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely Cosey surroundings. Took our order straight away. Food was delicious and home made ! I ordered beef in bun with home made chips - gorgeous. I still had room for cake and ordered strawberry cheesecake. Again was Devine, creamy and homemade ! We both didn’t mind paying the extra £1 and also left a tip. We found the experience very enjoyable and will return again.

Now calling in here on a weekly basis for a coffee & scone, the service is very good and friendly. As others have noted the service is not the quickest, but under the current circumstances it’s not to be complained about. Others have also complained about the cover charge, but what we saw today with the staff taking the glass top off the tables to clean both sides, and cleaning the wickerwork chairs under the cushions I would say that it is money well spent to stay safe & healthy.

Thank you for sharing your views. It disappointing that you seem to believe our £1 cover charge is for cleaning tables, which your right we do on normal days outside of COVID requirements. Our menu clearly states ( which you indicate you read) "We hope you can appreciate we are operating at a reduced capacity and contending with supplier cost increases so because of this we have introduced a £1.00 per person cover charge which will be added to your final bill to cover the additional costs incurred as a result of the new ‘norm’ rather than introducing a price increase across our menu." We don't assume that other settings have taken the same approach although we do know of some who have. This is what we have had to do as a business and sorry you don't agree with the £1 per person charge.

Be aware that there is a £1 per person surcharge in the restaurant because of their restricted dining. Phooey! It seems a bit greedy to me. So we left and spent our money elsewhere - drinks and bacon sandwiches - and saved more than £5 as a result.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts although it saddens us that you believe the charge to be around Greed. Perhaps it's better described as a way to sustain a business and supporting the jobs remaining and to stay afloat in periods of rising overheads and increased costs. Sorry you don't agree; we are a very unique venue, a visitors centre in fact which has a unique range of overheads which have to be met.
