We drove to Lago General Carrera through this park. The views are amazing. Sharp mountain peaks, edged with snow, fast running streams and photo opportunities everywhere. Half the journey is by dirt road and there was only one petrol station, so make sure to fill...More

We drove through on our way to Marble caves on a beautiful clear day. We also got to see two Huemules- the male looks like a reindeer with lovely antlers. Really recommendable trip.

This is amazingly breath taking beautiful contact with pure unspoiled nature. The nature that people so mindlessly devastate in so-called 'first world'. Don't go there to spoil it - just be happy it's still there.

A fantastic 4 day trek around Cerro Castillo, or shorter options. If lacking time, you can do a horseride plus walk up the emergency track to the lake and stunning views of the mountains and glacier. There is a beautiful campground at Laguna Chiguay. We...More

The hike to the laguna on Cerro Castillo was amazing- takes 5 hours total. Views of Lago Carrera are incredible on a clear day. It's a difficult hike (very steep) but well worth it! Can be cold at the top so bring layers.

Unlike most of the other reviews, my visit was basically a drive in the area. We did get out a few times and that wind is fierce! Make sure you hold on to your hat!

There is probably a bus between the nearest towns (Villa Cerro Castillo, Las Horquetas or Vista Hermosa, all very small) and Coyhaique. Were it me, however, I would rather have a rent car.
