- Lori P11 contributionsLike stepping into a fairytale picture bookThis place is beautiful. For the middle of the week it was quite busy, with several children running around, but we were still able to get some great pictures and to sit and enjoy nature. The bridges look like wood, but are actually concrete.Visited March 2023Written 18 March 2023
- jbwhitehouseDallas, Texas1,834 contributionsGem for All AgesThis free hidden gem in a suburban neighborhood is extremely special. Lots of walking paths that look like wood, but are actually concrete, around an 1880’s water-powered grist mill. All ages will enjoy it as we saw evidenced when we ate at one of the picnic tables. The opening scenes of the classic movie "Gone With The Wind” features this location. It is for children, romantics…everyone. Calm, serene, lovely with mallard and Muscovy ducks and turtles to add to the ambiance.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 May 2023
- Kyle MBuna, Texas34 contributionsBeautiful and FreeBeautiful and free. We happened to be driving nearby on our Arkansas vacation and we opted to come here and check this spot out. It did not disappoint! You can spend as little or as much time here as you would like. If you like great views, a little history, and plants displayed in a beautiful arrangement then stop by here. There is a restroom which was clean and cool. It wasn’t extremely busy and there were plenty of opportunities for great photos. We spent about an hour here and really took it all in. They have master gardeners that keep the flowers and plants. The kids loved the ducks and turtles. May not be great for those who may have trouble with stairs or mid grade inclines.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 24 July 2023

We stopped first in the late afternoon of one day and enjoyed it so much, we returned the next morning. It's a small park, but beautifully maintained. SO worth a visit.Visited August 2022Written 24 July 2023

I loved seeing this old mill so much. The grounds are so beautiful. It's far enough South that the flowers are in bloom earlier than where I live so I really enjoyed seeing them. It's so unique and amazing. You can tour the inside of the mill as well as the grounds.

Such a beautiful place in the middle of the city. If you love nature this is a must see. We watched ducks swim in the water and climbed to the top floor of the mill.

This is a beautiful park. Great place for photos. Easy to walk around with places to sit. I could see bringing a sack lunch to enjoy while there.

Cool little place to get some great photos. Recommend going on a sunny day or slightly overcast. The foliage provides a lot of shade.
Not recommended for those that cannot walk well.
Only thing still historic about it is the 1st level of the mill.
You only need about 30 min to see the whole place and get some awesome pictures.

The Old Mill is located in North Little Rock, about four miles north of downtown Little Rock.
It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the mill is known from the movie Gone with the Wind. The mill and the surroundings are quite nice and admission is free.

how much time do i need to visit the old mill
Kyle M
Buna, TX34 contributions
As little or as much time as you have is plenty for The Old Mill.
Even if you decide to spend a ton of time, I wouldn’t plan more than 1-2 hours. 1 hour is plenty when planning a trip here.

I don’t believe so. It is a public park. When we went, we were the only family there.

Sorry I didn’t see your response in time for you. This park is like in a neighborhood so it’s open all the time. You just walk in - no fencing, no fee.
is fishing allowed on lake front

I don't think so. The pond is better for viewing than recreational fishing.

There is decent and safe lodging about 2 miles away. Some is off of the interstate and some is off of McCain Blvd. This is the road the Old Mill is off of.

I believe so, and right across the street from the old mill there's a large lake with a walking trail for you and your pooch for a nice scenic walk.
