We did this trip the day after we did Petra and were on our way to the Dead Sea. Approx 5 km away but dont try to hike to it without an experienced guide. Our driver parked in the parking lot. A map at the entrance is self-explanatory. we walked thru' its Siq (shorter and narrower) and saw a few... More

Since it is nearby, I recommend a side trip to Little Petra. En route from Wadi Musa, you pass goatherds and Bedouin tents, and spectacular landscapes. Once there, you can explore at your leisure, as it is not crowded. Evidence of flooding helps to explain why this civilization is no longer residing here. There are carved buildings facades and cave... More

Visiting Little Petra is well worth it. There was only our group visiting the site with our guide. Little Petra is exactly what it says a smaller mor intimate sibling to Petra with time to explore the tombs and ancient murals. Lovely peaceful mystical and time to explore on your own a perfect opportunity to learn the local history culture... More

If you're looking to see the magnificence of the carved out building and are concerned about the steep prices of Petra then visit little Petra. Its a short cab ride, hitch-hike, or bus ride North of Wadi Mousa.

We visited Little Petra in the evening as we arrived in Petra. Our tour company had suggested seeing it before doing Petra the next day. It was interesting and gave a good idea of what we were to see the next day. It was quiet and you felt like you had stepped back in time. I enjoyed looking at the... More

Good to do it before Petra-proper to give you a taste of things to come. Give the local lad some Jod, so he takes you around, points out interesting stuff and explains. We were virtually the only tourists there, so that makes it ideal for photo's.

As the name suggests it's a much smaller site than Petra but it's worth a look! It's a very different feel from Petra but quite charming. Caves carved in to the rock, some of which seem to have been used to store water. It's not too far from the main Petra site (maybe 25 mins by car), not walkable though... More

Thoroughly enjoyed Little Petra. You will see mosaics if you're adventurous enough to climb several treacherous steps and walk through a mini Siq. Not crowded like Petra and almost cozy in its lack of tourists. It doesn't take a long time to visit. Although I've visited Petra a few times, had never been here. Sorry I missed it before but... Little Petra is a short drive from the main site and worth seeing even for an hour. It has a different atmosphere to the main site and needs to be seen.
