Bab al Siq is the only entrance to the city of Petra, passing through a very narrow defile that has been naturally carved in the red stone mountains. It's a treat to walk through the narrow defile that leads to the city of Petra. At places, the defile gets so narrow that it is hard to see the sky. The... More

This almost 2 mile slightly down hill path between rock sides filled with historical stops is a both visual and physical . The artistic and colorful natural rock designs coupled with niches cut in the Rock by civilizations that we can't imagine are a mysterious preparation for what is to come at the end . The funny thing is that... More

The key is to get there as early as you can to beat the crowds. This is the only way into the site and out of it as well. We had a 2-day pass and enjoyed an uncrowded, unhurried, walk through the Siq the first day. But if you're staying just one day, don't dally here as there is much... More

Every time you turn a corner, another beautiful vista opens up. Colour a of rock, angles of sun shining thru highlighting the multi colors in the rocks. Gorgeous. Trek thru Siq is almost a km long, really lovely walk. Took a zillion pics! Lol

Or at least crowded most of the time. It's beautiful but it's not the only place in Petra. So if you're short in time, don't take too much time there or you will miss the other beautiful sights after Al Khazna

This is one of the 7 wonders -- and no wonder! Now's the time to go. Tourism is down and there's plenty of breathing room. I suggest taking your time. Petra is not only a jaw-dropping architectural/ archeological/ historical masterpiece to see -- it also offers a jaw-dropping walk through the beautiful terrain. Take your time. Easily spend two days... More

I had no idea about the Siq but what a great way to get to the main sites at Petra. Strolling through the Siq takes one back 2000 years to what it would have been like then. This beautiful track protected the site for so many years and is a fascinating place to visit.
