Row of Nabataean monumental tombs on the left side of the trail, well over halfway into the trail. Number of archaeological designs are evident.

Often overlooked, the street of facades is one of my favourites in the entire sites. Its smaller scale means it makes excellent location for selfies.

Just after the Treasury building is the street of Facades. This is a street connecting the entrance to Petra and the Treasury with the main thoroughfare. It is a series of stone facades carved into the mountainsides and houses a number of tombs. There are also cave residences carved into the mountain as well. They say the tombs are the... More

Petra is not just the Treasury - it extends well beyond that area. Take the time to explore the Street of Facades and surroundings - if you have a guide so much the better to put it all into context.

Another interesting sight in Petra where you will see some Nabatean inscriptions and small carvings, representing camels and the like which are quite beautiful. Another piece of delight in Petra.

Everything you ever wanted to buy from the locals is present here. Cafe's, trinkets, drawings, sand jars they got it all. Plus this is where the tourist police hang out if you needed them.

This street is full with ancient ruins, tombs, theater and other structure that exist from The Treasury all the way to the foothill of the steps to the Monastery

After leaving the area around The Treasury, you come upon this roadway with tombs as far as the eye can see. These are less ornate but still impressive, probably for the less important and poorer people. This area does not have much protection from the sun so a hat would help greatly. People just walk by this area to get... More

The street of facades after crossing the Treasury and adjacent to the outer Siq. The name is given to the row of monumental Nabatean tombs which would fall on your left. These are carved in the southern cliff face and facades are crowned with corner crow steps, pilasters and cavettos. Be prepared to walk a lot in the Sun and... More
