We stopped at this place because it was between Petra and the Dead Sea. It was definitely worth the trip to see the ruins and the views are quiet amazing as well. Lots of history here but the place is crumbling.

You get fantastic panoramic views from the castle which is in a rather dilapidated state but ongoing renovations are taking place. Notwithstanding this worth a visit if you are in the area. Quite a large site which is peacefully quiet. One can imagine the significance...More

The Castle is inknown to many people. It is one of the most beautiful crossaiders castles built in 12th century. It is located on a strategic place on top the Shaubak mointains.

I enjoyed the visit to Shobak Castle. Impressive place, commanding view of the surrounding countryside. Much of the castle has been reconstructed, it still does have a lot of history attached. There are usually local guides for hire at the entrance. It'd be worth while...More

While my tour included Kerak castle, my driver Ibrahim Fakhoury recommended that I try Shobak castle instead, saying I might find it more appealing given that it’s in a remote, sparsely populated area, as opposed to Kerak castle which is located in an urban area....More

It was okay, great view. There is a tunnel underground. If you are not claustrophobic, you can go there.

In the road between Petra and Wadi Rum we stopped to visit the ruins of this imposing castle which dates back to the Crusaders: it is a labyrinthine place and luckily we were guided by a gentleman who led us through passages and walkways that...More

The Castle will take a day to get to. Jordan is a great place and may places to see. If you are on an organised tour stick with their itinerary if yo are free and in the Petra area visit the castle.
