The chairlift is very restful on a good weather day. Particularly if you've had to fight your way past the hordes of bus tours you've been jammed into the cable car with. There's a nice not too taxing walk at the top to a proper viewpoint. It's a wee bit overpriced for what it is. On a clear day a... More

A gorgeous hike with easy access and well-cared for trail. Once you summit Kurodake, make sure to spend a few more hours summiting other peaks and exploring the area. We spent maybe 8 hours total in the park. The hut made for a nice place to enjoy a sandwich.

Arrived around late afternoon, took both the ropeway and the chairlift. Views from the chairlift was fantastic and we were very lucky to have a clear sky. It got pretty chilly near the end of the ride due to the strong winds despite the sunny day. Better to bring along a jacket or shiver all the way down like we... More

Ropeway/cable car goes up every 20mins or so during June when we visited and English language is minimal with lots of misunderstandings about timing so just know the schedule was at 1.20pm and 1.40pm etc... They also told us no snow but boy were we in for a treat when we arrived at the top of the mountain...it was SNOWING... More

As a ski resort, there is only one chairlift which leads to largely beginner/moderate runs. The real skiing joy is in the backcountry. The trek up to Mt Kurodake and ski down to the chairlift is the highlight. The views up there were outstanding. I also tried the steep gnarly stuff under the gondola once, it was OK but needed... Enjoy the scenery at the most specially when you took the cable car to the mountain. Although we didn't able the take the second one as it was closed but still amazed by the scenery there.

Great thing to do if you want to explore Daisetsuzan national park without venturing too far off the beaten track. There is a cable car, and then a ski lift that takes you up to the foor of Mount Kurodate. From there it's an about 2 hours pretty steep hike up and back. When we went, the weather was very... More

From rainy to sunny to snowy, we experienced this amazing change of weather within 12 hours when we walked from our hotel to take the cable car, and then the chair-lift to the mountain. By the time we were up there, the snow came down so heavy that we had to hurry down by the chair lifts. Great views on... More

The entire area is so peaceful, serene and it's an extremely good place to just get away from work and the world. Do prepare yourself by wearing comfortable shoes and bring along water bottles for the hike. Parking is easy to find so not to worry. First there was the ropeway and then the chairlift up to a point before... More
