Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We decided to take the bus from where were were staying to the Grotto Light House and then walk back along the Seltjarnarnes Peninsula Jogging Path back in the Reykjavik. The whole area was so peaceful, very few tourists or locals. I have a special affinity with the coast and certainly felt it here :) Luckily my daughter had the foresight to Google Maps the little foot bath on route or we would have missed it. The water was so warm and my calves tingled for the rest of the walk. It slippery inside though so you need to be careful stepping in... and I am 5' 8" and the water pretty much reached my knees. The walk with the wind in your hair, and the salt in your nose was wonderful. Make sure you wrap up warm though. My only gripe would be the need for a public toilet somewhere along the route

During a cold winter night, whether driving, jogging, biking or just walking, walk close to the lighthouse at the end of the peninsula. Do not go close to the water during flood, it´s cold and the current is strong. But it has one of the best northern lights seeing spots so close to the city center or just for stargazing. Plus on a clear night, you can see light from Akranes, Kjalarnes etc.

If you're looking for a fine running path linked to central Reykjavik, this will fit the bill. The path takes you along the bay, with fantastic views of the mountains in the distance and huge ships coming into harbor. It is flat and well-paved and ends at a lighthouse at peninsula's tip. I'm not sure of the distance; probably about 5km out to the end.

Lovely coastal path with nice view, can be windy but thats just refreshing in my opinion. Lots of birds and you could get lucky and see seals close to the coast.

Quieter side of Reykjavík area, walks around the coast and pretty lighthouse. Absolutely lovely spot to see the sunset in October.

This walking path is on the western tip of of the Reykjavík peninsula, surrounded by the sea. Great views. Good for all ages and very romantic when the sun is setting in the west.

You can visit this area any time of the day...really any time of the year. There's this walking, cycling or running path that circles the city and to visit the penisola area follow this path that you find along the seaside. It's mostly continuous except a bit "unclear" in the harbour area of the city...but it passes "Harpa" Concert Hall aswell as "Nauthólsvík" seaside area by Reykjavik's city national airport. This path also guides you to "Elliðaárdalur" where the wild salmon river runs through Reykjavik city..surrounded by a beautiful valley.

From "Seltjarnarnes" penisola there's also an amazing seaside view with unforgettable sunsets / daybreaks.

The only thing you need to think about normally it's rather windy there and no restaurants or cafes nearby. Enjoy :-)

Walking westwards along the coastal path from downtown on a sunny winter's afternoon has to be one of the hidden pleasures of Reykjavik. The path snakes gently along the Seltjarnarnes Peninsula for about an hour or so through this gentle Reykjavik suburb until you get to the beach and finally the lighthouse at its tip.

I am told this is one of the best spots within the city for the Northern Lights and I don't doubt that this is true - the thought of walking all the way back in the dark is though a little too much for me, so I shall be sticking to the day.

This path goes all the way from Reykjavik through Seltjarnes on the sea line. It is very pleasant to walk along the water. Walkers, runners, and bicyclists can use this path, and it goes to the Grotta lighthouse. There are water fountains along the way.
