I would just like to add something which I didn't see in the other reviews (perhaps I just missed it) and that is the experience of the 'dark sky' from the mountain. Of course you need it to be clear at night and it's best...More

As a group of 4 climbers, we had an incredible 5 day climb of Mount Kenya ascending the Sirimon route from the northwest and descending eastwards on the Chogoria route. A good number of climbers can summit Mount Kenya in 4 days but we opted...More

I climbed Mt. Kenya with a few friends using Benson and his team from trekmtkenya.com. Even before the trip started Benson was very helpful, providing a detailed itinerary and packing list. We took the Chogoria-Sirimon route. The views were beautiful on both routes. On the...More

We have just returned from a 5 day - 4 night hike of Mount Kenya's Chogoria / Sirimon route with gotomountkenya.com. Even before we got there Evans was always on hand to answer all of my questions, some incredibly banal. Ascending via the Chogoria route...More

We booked a 4-day trekking via Naro Moru on the way up and Chigoria on the way down with gotomountkenya.com. Evans provided us with plenty of details in advance and answered a thousand and one questions before the trip, super helpful. We also decided at...More

If you've done Kili, Tubkal etc.in Africa then I would definitely recommend doing Mount Kenya. The trekking peak is 4985m and I would suggest you do it over three days to allow some acclimatisation before attempting the summit. The views weren't great due to the...More

HI! Not too steep or precarious. It is certainly not easy, especialy at that altitude, but it does not seem dangerous. The last bit is tougher then the rest, but it has a metel wire to help up the steep bits. I have a slight... More

You can also easily find buses and vans that go regularly from downtown Nairobi with stops along the way for much cheaper. Ask people when you get there and they will all know where to direct you.
