I have been visiting Mcloud gunj for years and this church is a small quiet place just a 15min walk from the main bus stand. Its an amazing place that is actually used for service on Sunday. The cemetery next to it is a place to just sit and meditate and has a charming view of the snow peaked hills

Historically first church of Himachal situated in the mid of pine trees on the way to Macloadganj. Beautiful architecture and awesome surroundings. You can visit inside and photography permitted. Parking available on the road. Very quiet place and not much crowded. Good for photography lovers and couples.

Small church, worth a quick stop. Well maintained. One of the prominent churches in the area- tourists often take a quick stop enroute to McLeodgunj.

Minimum facilities available- few shops by the roadside and parking.

I visited this serene place on December 16, 2014. An old, beautiful Anglican church that was built in Neo-Gothic style in 1852 by the Britishers. The church is dedicated to John The Baptist. Its stained glass windows are made in Belgian style & were donated by Lady Elgin. It is located very close to McLeodganj and one can even walk to reach this place.

At the time of the 1905 Kangra Earthquake - which destroyed most buildings in Kagra & killed thousands of people - this church survived, however, the bell tower was destroyed. It was later cast in England in 1915, brought back & installed outside in the church compound.

You can see the grave memorial of James Bruce (died on November 20, 1863 at the age of 52), 8th Earl of Elgin & 23rd Viceroy of India which was erected by his wife Mary Louisa. The cemetery contains the graves of many victims of the 1905 earthquake too.

A quiet place where one can sit for hours & feel God's vibrations. We visited this place on a Tuesday morning, it was open.

This small church in the wilderness is on the way to McLeodgunj. It's an ancient stone structure surrounded by pine trees and stained glass panels inside.

We visited this church in December and it was already late evening when we went there, so we had started to lose light.

Even though we couldn't go inside the church because there was christmas cleaning going on inside, the outsides were just as much enticing.

As soon as I saw the church, it gave me a spooky feel, and then I discovered why - there is a graveyard in the back.

Most of the graves are from the 1800s and they were probably of Britishers of resided in the nearby areas. There is also a grave of an old viceroy here.

Overall, a great place, especially if you are into photography

The church is located a few kms from the mail market square. Its a quiet place away from the hustle bustle of the market. Looks like a heritage building.

Interesting bit: The church was destroyed in an earthquake and thereafter reconstructed with the help of the Indian Army (proud of them) especially the Gorkha rifles.

A typical traditional British style church. It was Sunday when we went so we were unable to take photos during the service which was very well attended. Services are held in English and Hindi.

The church is quite pretty and looks striking against the lush green forest. I thought though that the small graveyard set on the stepped hillside was more interesting and we all spent much more time there. Maybe it's the contrast of the White stone against the lush green that we had on our wet morning.
