This is part of the Queen's enclosure for which you need to pay a rather steep 500 rupees for admission (which also entitles you to visit Vitalla temple). It's a high price compared to other historical sites in India. The stables are situated beyond Lotus Mahal, through a gate. You'll find a long line of tall stables that once were... More

When you travel with two Czech friends on a tight budget, things can get complicated. The entry ticket for Indians costs INR 30 but for foreigners, it's much higher at INR 500 - a bargain for Indians but an overpriced experience for the rest. And no, there aren't any elephants here. There's just one (I've asked the locals) at the... More

Elephant stables are nicely maintained and there are lot of green lawns around which are nicely manicured. Different kind of architecture from rest of the hampi as you will see domes above the stable.

It's the Royal Elephant stable located in the heart of the UNESCO world heritage site in Hampi where the royal elephants of Vijayanagara Empire would rest. Lucky Elephants,No? 🐘 The 11 dome shaped chambers make this long symmetrical structure a royal sight to witness

The place seems mostly intact and the actual stables and the watch towers are fun to explore. There is a museums right beside it where all latest explorations are displayed.

These elephant stalls are very impressive - I wonder if the people were treated this good. Pretty elaborate stables

A small guarded entrance on the eastern enclosure wall of the Zanana enclosure leads to the area of Elephants stable. The elephants stable is represented by a homogenous group of chambers with high arched facade with lofty doomed roof. Eleven chambers are built side by side in the north-south orientation in an area of 85 x 10 meters. The central... More
