Hathi Mahal is in the abandoned area of Mandu. I couldn't go near to Hathi Mahal because the road going there was blocked due to water logging. I took some photographs from the distance and moved on.

The pillars are in the shape of elephant's legs which is a unique feature of this monument. It is better to visit this place quickly and save time for other monuments.

As the name suggests, the pillars of the monument are in the shape of elephant legs. The place can covered only if you are not short of time. You can spend short time here to avoid the heat

Hathi Mahal was a pleasure retreat in its earlier incarnation and hence was called a Mahal . But the designer / engineer who planned / constructed the Mahal as a baradari with three arched openings on each side was not sure about her engineering skills...More
