River is partially clean and Looks good in places. However locals has been using this for various purpose.
Few local travel agencies are organizing picnic on the Rivers banks and they seems to be aware that where the stream is clean.

Unexpectedly calm and peaceful place to be when in Orchha. Good for river rafting for those seeking an adventure. MPT Betwa Retreat offers River Rafting from their property. The view of the Chhatris from the other side of Betwa river is simply breathtaking.

Most of us in our group had never done rafting before........so were little scared............. We enquired about safety of this activity and skill of the rafters accompanying us.......... We were told that these people are quite experienced, they regularly help in rescue missions during floods. Recently they rescued 50 people stranded on other side of Betwa, who crossed over bridge and suddenly Betwa swelled and bridge got submerged. Betwa river is very unpredictable during Monsoon as water levels can rise to dangerous levels in no time......
This eased our nerves and we decided to go ahead, as monsoon season was already over and water level in river was in safe limit.
River rafting is carried out by some private operators also, But the one of MP Tourism is most safe. One has to reach Betwa Retreat Hotel, pay the charges (INR 2000 approx.) for one raft which will carry 6 guests and 2 trained personnels. All of us wore life jackets and helmets. They took us to start point in a vehicle with raft and oar.
Once in waters.... they instructed and trained us in rowing forwards, backwards and how to turn the raft... and the fun started.... it was 3.5 Kms long journey with 4-5 rapids of level 3...just perfect for novice like us... In between the journey at one place there was a dam with almost stand still water and they allowed us to get down from raft and swim in river..... we got a glimpse of various palaces, forts and temples of Orchha from river side, which was a bonus.....
Over all Perfect Activity for beginners (It is MUST to take weather into consideration before beginning as Monsoon / Rainy season (Mid June to end of September) will be a strict No No.....)

Orchha probably marked one of the most beautiful ghat along Betwa river. Hardly 200 m walk from Ram Raja Mandir, this ghat is still quite clean and is home to many religious prayers. Must visit!

The river adds so much character to the city. A rocky river with gushing waters is a sight to see. The local population offers prayers to the river too

We have stayed in Bundelkhand Riverside which is situated on the bank of River Betwa. In the morning we enjoyed the sound & purity of the river. Such a wonderful memory.

I visited the river sight during recent two days stay at Orchha. fiestly night of 12th Nov 19 , Aha what fascinating sight in Moonlight - along the backs of rani water flowing slow yet steadily And above all the Flow had a wonderful Rhydam with intervals of a few minutes beginning from a lolwer tone gradualy rising to a medium range tone alike a Grand Chhota Khayal being rendered by some Maestro from within the great Forest on the opposite banks dedicated to preserved species of Birds and we enjoyed the Aqua Music along side the Rai Praveen palace on the river bank.

Be careful about taking up any rafting suggestions at the end of the monsoon months. It is a river with natural forest and stone embankments across from the ghats. Well worth hiking along its lovely banks and visiting the nearby smaller river that comes into the Betwa near the cenotaphs.

As a reviewer who was there at the end of March just visiting the town of Orchha I would have no idea if there is rafting in Nov. Maybe you could google research a question like this or ask a reviewer who was there for that purpose at that time of year.

i like picnic near betwa river will you kindly locate me i am frim jhanshi travel by car
Written 8 October 2018
Jhansi offers a lot of such spots, while Orchha is barely 18km away, you could plan a picnic at Pahuj dam on Datia road, or Barwasagar. If you are in the mood you could go right up to Matatila dam in Lalitpur district. Orchha however is my favourite because of the rich heritage

Hi! I just came across the news about the flood situations in Orchha today due to the massive rise of water level in river Betwa. How long generally the flash flood water takes to recede there in Orchha? We are supposed to arive there next Sunday.
