It is also the only temple dedicated to Brahma in existence. To get there you will also get a glimpse of the Pushkar Ghats, although they are not accessible to tourists.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 November 2023
- FHTR In RajasthanJaipur, India259 contributionsDivine Brahma and Gayatri Mata Temple in PushkarNestled by the sacred Pushkar Lake, the Brahma Temple is a hidden gem offering a serene escape from the bustle of Rajasthan. It's one of the very few temples dedicated to Lord Brahma, the creator in Hindu mythology. Legends whisper tales of a mystical lotus falling from Brahma's hand, creating the holy lake. Marvel at the marble architecture and the silver turtle deity at the temple's entrance, each echoing a story of ancient devotion. Things to do: Parikrama: Walk around the sacred Pushkar Lake before entering the temple. Attend Aarti: Experience the soul-stirring evening Aarti, a spiritual symphony by the lake. Things not to do: Respect the sanctity; photography inside the temple is discouraged. During prayer times, maintain silence and a respectful distance from ongoing rituals.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 28 November 2023

Temple staff will approach foreigners and start explaining history etc. Just tell them that you dont need their service. The flowers they give for you to "offer" is up to you, but having accepted flowers you will be approached by staffs because they want to give you a "guide" then at the end they bring you to the lake and tell you to chant some mantra and then ask you to pay a huge amount of donation. They will not even make it seem like a choice for you and they will try to keep you there. If you dont donate they will follow you.

We went sightseeing, to know about the place, and the priests emotionally forced us to spend and do pind daan. This should be our choice, and only those who visit for this purpose, should be asked to do it.
Infact they asked for a week long chappan bhog ie 11000/- x 7 days daan. And the way they did it, I felt guilty of choosing the lowest daan, when I had not even planned to do this at all.
Overall ambience on a winter morning is relaxing. Realised there's not much to see and do around.
There's a restaurant on the exact opposite Bank of the temple which is open till late night and offers a huge variety of vegetarian delicacies. We opted for the traditional thali. Full marks.

This is the only temple in the world devoted to Lord Brahma. He sits in the temple with his wife, Saraswati. It is altogether a very different experience to visit a temple to worship a deity which you are sure to not see anywhere else.
There is ample parking a few hundred meters from the temple. Pushkar is not a very big place and baring a couple of places, there is not much to see. Do remember to eat Kachori from there. Ask someone for Kumawat Sweets, his Kachories are famous.
The temple remain closed from 1 to 4 pm, so plan your trip accordingly.
There is strictly no photography allowed inside the temple.

It's difficult to drive a car to the entrance of the temple. So, you will have to stop it and park at a distance. There is a market on the way where you can buy local and traditional items. Photography and Videography is not allowed inside the temple. There is a Lord Brahma statue inside the temple and goddess Saraswati beside the Lord Brahma. Please beware of Pandits near the temple who would take you to the ghat and do some pooja and then ask for donation. The temple is closed from 1.30 Pm to 3 PM. So, you should plan accordingly.

The only brahma temple, located centrally in the middle of the holy city Pushkar, well connected by road and easily accessible by road. Many stay options with parking facility are also available very close to the temple. Temple is open from 6 in the morning to 8 in the night with a small lunch break. Time taken to visit is almost 1 hour. It is recommended to visit the temple in morning hours. No wheel chair accessible entrance is available.

This is the one of the few and most famous temples of Brahma in the country. The temple structure dates to the 14th century, partly rebuilt later. The temple is made of marble and stone slabs. It has a distinct red pinnacle (shikhara) and a hamsa bird motif. The temple sanctum sanctorum holds the image of four-headed Brahma and his consort Gayatri(goddess of milk).

This is a must visit place in case you are visiting Pushkar as the reason behind the popularity of this place is this temple. The fact is this is the only BRAHMA TEMPLE in the entire universe. In terms of its build it's not that great architecture as you will find in the temples of Southern India but the good thing is you will get the Darshana without waiting in long queues. You have the entire market surrounding the temple where you can shop and eat. Just an advice be aware of pickpockets.

It's a nice temple. Worth a visit since it's apparently the ONLY one in India .
Photography is not allowed inside the temple . It's a quick visit place and will hardly take 15-20 mins .
Savitri temple is located little away from main Brahma temple and is accessible through rope away.
Now the story - why is the ONLY Brahma temple :
Pushkar has become a place of Hindu pilgrimage because of this holy lake. Legend has it that this lake was consecrated to Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe when a lotus dropped from his hand into the vale and a lake emerged in that place.
After killing Vijranabha( a demon)n, Brahma wished to perform a Yagna here. But since his consort (wife) Savitri couldn't reach on time, he married Gayatri and performed the Yagna with her in tow. According to the Hindu belief, a married man cannot perform a Yagna in the absence of his wife. Hence, Brahma decided to marry Gayatri, to perform the Yagna.
However, when Savitri reached the venue of the Yagna, she got infuriated after seeing Gayatri sitting next to her husband. Enraged by her husband's second marriage, Savitri cursed Lord Brahma stating that he wouldn't be ever worshipped. She also cursed those who facilitated his wedding ceremony. But Gayatri lessened the effects of the curse with her powers. As a result, the temple in Pushkar was reserved for the worship of Brahma.

how many steps are to be climbed up for brahma temple?
Written 11 March 2016
Not too many steps, should be between 20-25 steps.
But the steps are a little higher than the normal steps, so it is little difficult for seniors & small kids to climb.
Written 16 March 2016
Hi, it will be of immense help to me if you kindly let me know timing of the day when we should visit this palace. And what is the estimated time needed to cover the palace.
Written 20 March 2015
Early in the morning at sunrise is the best time...Or, just before the sunset...The place is not actually so crowded on ordinary days, so any time is welcome. But it essentially depends upon the religious sanctity you attach to the timing of the visit!
