One of the countless temples on the Pushkar Lake ghats. This one in white marble and 5 headed little statue. Blink and you'll miss it.

This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is called Mahadeva. Lord Shiva with His magnificent five faces graces us in this temple. The five faces are named Sadyojat, Vamdev, Aghor, Tatpurush and Ishan. The four faces of Shiva represent the four directions. The fifth face which points skywards is the universal face symbolic of purity and spiritual progress. Also five faces represent five elements Prithvi, Varun, Vayu, Agni and Akash. Anything in the Universe is made of these five elements in different proportions. The temple is built with white marbles and is a peaceful abode of Shiva. It is just 3 minutes walk away from Lord Brahma temple. After visiting Lord Brahma temple, we visited Varaha temple (Lord Vishnu) and visited three temples of Shiva, last one Lord Mahadeve temple and completed our pilgrimage with the grace of Trimurthy / Trinity.

Must visit temple in Pushkar.

We reached this temple late in the evening as the last point of our Pushkar visit. It just happened evening Arati just started and we had the chance to sing along the bhajans and worship Lord Mahadev. It has given a satisfactory completion to the day and felt good and happy.

Pushkar town has more than 400 temples and this is just another temple. Nothing special about the temple. Avoid.

Though not among the top attraction of Pushkar, Mahadev temple is for devotees of Shiva which in his Panchmukhi Avatar adds to the variety of shades of Mahadev.
