Sommières is one of the very old towns in the area, with lots of historic buildings, a Roman bridge and plenty of lovely bars and restaurants. A must see.

Not one of the most interesting of Roman bridges but an informative plaque by the side of it gives you an idea of its history. More interesting having been to Junas quarry area to find that some of the bridge stones were quarried there.

If you just look at the bridge over the river, it is nothing exciting. However the bridge, constructed in Roman times, became a toll bridge in medieval times and buildings were built on top of the bridge, like the Ponte Vecchio in Venice. You can't...More
