    Cool Fortress
When we went, you couldn't go inside the fortress. The little boat tour was still pretty cool though. We go some nice pictures of it from the water. I'm sure it's much better if you get to disembark and experience it from the inside. Still, a neat little fortress out on the water.

    Great views
Great views. It's well kept. There's a bathroom on the island and a little shop. It's been redone a lot so it doesn't feel like you're on a historical site, but more like you're on a park. Still, we enjoyed it. A good way to kill an hour and half or so (including boat time). The views are spectacular.

    Wonderful !
A magical and incredible experience! It is worth visiting this destination, there is a small boat where the ticket is €5 per person both to go and to return! It is worth seeing up close, there is also a small shop there with beautiful local souvenirs! I loved this place especially when I saw Vangelis a cat who lives there he is beautiful and sweet!

We have been to Nafplio on a few trips and never take the boat across. At €5 round trip to shuttle over and back (the boat returns every 20 minutes or so) and another €5 to tour it is a nice sight providing a beautiful view for Nafplio. At one point in time a couple lives on the island… that would have been the best way to experience this area most certainly. Worth the €10 and an hour of your time (round trip).

Nafplio is worth seeing whether you're seeing it for the first time as a Greek, or you're a tourist. A visit to Palamidi fortress is a must. Either drive up, take a taxi, or use the hop on hop off bus to avoid climbing 999 steps. Take water!
Bourtzi has been renovated and now open to tourists. However, IMO it looks better from a distance, and you could probably skip it.

We were able to view the castle from the ship we were on and from the palamidi castle and promenade.
The castle looks great and makes for a great photo as it is completely surrounded by water.
Need special boats to visit castle and there are particular times when it is allowed.
Would love to visit, but after checking out Palamidi castle - I was pretty happy with our trip in nafplion.

This picture postcard Venetian fortress set in the middle of Nafplio bay is a true symbol of Greek most beautiful town.
It's seen from all over the area - up from the Palamidi fortress and from walking the promenade as well.
During our previous visit 12y ago we even crossed to it, but honestly it much looks better from the shore.

Well Bourtzi is the castle in the entrance of the harbor, and is one of the best attraction at the city of Nafplion, my visitors form Europe and I we decide to go and visit the castle by boat that takes you from the harbor front by the cafes its about 10 minute ride, unfortunately it was closed to visitors do to constriction and renovation that is going there for the last 3 years,. visitors are not allowed to be inside the castle, but no one bothers to tell you about it. the boaters that takes you there don't tell you that is closed until the boat gets close to the castle then they tell you that the castle is closed because is under construction and you are not allowed to go on it ,instead they take you to a short tour around the castle by boat and a short trip to the light house about 1/2 mile and back for all this they charge you 4.50 euros per person. in that tour we where about 25 persons of different nationalities and most of the visitors got upset about it when the captain of the boat announce that we can't go on the island we all where so disappointed, according to the captain of the boat this is going on for the last 3 years and it looks they will take another 3-4 years to be completed, its only fair to have some one to place a sign to warn visitors before they go in to this trouble, I don't know if a complain to the mayor of nafplion will help... but the boat ride its ok for the sun set the kids enjoy it very much. well I will try again some time..

Bourtzi Fortress was in built in 1473 on top of a rock island. It is in the harbour entrance of Nafplio and a popular tourist destination. There is no ticket office, you pay on board before the boat leaves the port. The boat taxis are lined up at the start of the harbour front promenade opposite Grande Bretagne Hotel. The price is 4 euros per person for the boat trip. The boat trip only takes a few minutes. You can take amazing pictures of Nafplio from the boat. Once you get off the boat, you have approximately twenty minutes to look around and take photos of Bourtzi, the Argolic Gulf and Nafplio. We started from the top of the fortress and worked our way down. The boat will signal its horn when it is time to go back. Well worth a visit.

The fort in the middle of the harbor is eerily beautiful. For 4 euro, a boat will take you across to the island and wait while you explore; you only get 20 minutes on the island, but it is quite small and that's plenty to take it all in. The boat is also unmarked, just look for the man trying to attract tourists! The fort is so quiet and all you can hear is the sound of the wind, the waves, and the boats. There are no panels or tour guides, you just walk around and explore where you will. I found it far more interesting than the Palamidi fortress on the hill!
