unfortunately the famine museum is no more and Thurles is the loser..why such a great attraction is closed is a mystery and shows a distinct lack of cop on on the pat of some people

Stopped here on a visit with my Mum who is from the town. Unfortunately the church was shut so we couldn't visit the museum. The graveyard was interesting and has recently been renovated, although interestingly on the front part was more 'well kept'. It's a...More

George Willoughby always gives an impressive private tour. It is a small, local museum but the quality of materials is excellent. George is very friendly and knowledgeable of local history of the famine period and of the revolutionary period. Very helpful for searching local connections.
