These gardens are spectacular set near the River Teviot and in the grounds of Lord Lothian. The trees which are many and varied mostly have names and descriptions and the various gardens all have a theme. Squirrels abound and move easily from tree to tree...More

This is a gardener's paradise. It is not one's typical stately pile surrounded by parterres and a deer park but rather the family home of the Marquis of Lothian set above the banks of the Teviot and lovingly landscaped into the gardens that exist today....More

A delightful place to spend an afternoon. Many beautiful gardens spread over a large area and an arboretum too. A lot of effort and imagination has gone into the landscaping. Staff are very welcoming and helpful and the price is more than reasonable. Gardens are...More

We were recommended to visit these gardens by friends and were more than impressed. They are beautifully laid out with a well labelled route to follow through the series of very different sections. The winter interest section follows a meandering walk through a quiet shrub...More

Sorry to miss this. So many of us visit Scotland in August for the Edinburgh Festivals, it’s a shame to miss this lovely home and garden even if the Bloomsbury past their prime.

We visited here recently. Monteviot is clearly signposted, off the A68 just a few miles north of Jedburgh. The gardens are extensive, with a clearly marked path around them, and several absolute gems waiting to be discovered. Entry (£5) is excellent value. We also paid...More
