We ended up on this road by accident, turning the wrong way from Stoer Lighthouse. I'm glad we did but I'm also glad that we are used to this type of road. It's narrow with passing places, some hairaising bends and one or two monumental...More

It is a fantastic drive, with scene after scene of beauty, from Lochs to the sea, all carpeted with green and the water sparkling blue if you are lucky to have a partly clear day (at least). Sure there are one track roads, but take...More

This is a totally stunning drive, with the most incredible views! It is narrow and windy, and very upsy downsy, but there are loads of passing places. It's not for the faint-hearted, but it really is worth doing.

The Drumbeat loop is a stunning drive, on a single track road with views at every turn. Take it slow and use the many passing bays and you will have a lot of fun. Some of the vistas were as good as anything we have...More

The views throughout this part of Scotland are generally good on most routes and the Drumbeg Loop is no exception. We did not find the drive any more challenging than the many other single lane roads in the Scottish Highlands.

An absolute beauty of a beach tucked away off the North Coast 500. If you're looking for seclusion and a beach to yourself then head here. If you time your visit right you can feast on a freshly prepared fish supper from Achmelvich chip shop...More

A wonderful drive with many beautiful bays etc Each turn seemed to open up a new and glorious vista. Although mostly a single track road, there are many passing places never very far apart. It gives access to many beautiful sandy beaches.

Set off from Lochinver and thoroughly enjoyed it. After eating lunch at the Kyleseku Hotel (see review), decided to make the return journey to see the views from the other direction. This was also very good but spoilt by two sets of convoys coming in...More

On the NC500 route and well worth ensuring you go through it! Great driving, especially if the weather is lovely, however even with the rain we still enjoyed it. Great views and no need to go speeding through - take it all in :)

All part of the NC500 and yes it's brilliant! Yes, there are too many motor caravans/motor homes but B&Bs are few and far between so taking your home with you makes it easy. It's not a place for learner drivers, but it's not that hard...More

The roads that you are planning to drive are very scenic but very slow so allow lots of time. The road from Achiltibuie is single track and very narrow. Lots of blind bends and be prepared to back if you meet a car. The... More
