Best short trail in the Park

Moderate trail in terms of exertion (some hills to climb) but beautiful destination lake and other sights to see.

Counts as #1 trail to hike in Algonquin Provincial Park, locate on the east side of the rd 60, If you'll come from west side or East is a great starting hike in the park. It's easy, fun and very recommend hiking (will take you 1:00 -1:30 hr in easy fun mode :) It was our first hike in the... More

A short trail (approx 1 hour) around a big beaver pond. Unfortunately we didn't see any beavers but the trail itself with the look out point is beautiful. If you want to cut the trail short, do the trail the opposite way, then you will be at the high look out in 10 minutes. The trail is worth it to... More

Excellent short but tiring walk to end the day but you need good walking shoes. Enjoyed a great close up view of a beaver working to top things off.

generally you can handle two or three trails per days and this combines well with the lookout, the visitor center to provide variety in a day. easy walk though it can be sloppy. Doing this late afternoon or early evening will give a better chance to watch the beavers from the high level viewing area.

Also saw a snake and chipmunk, not a difficult hike if you take your time, also more chance of spotting a beaver if you stop and watch quitely many people seemed to rush through loudly and not... There are of course several beaver dams to see on this trail but you also walk along the top of one across a pond. You will also get up close to the end of another more recent dam for a great view of its makeup. There is a picturesque lookout view over the mature beaver pond near the end of... More

My boyfriend and I wanted to go on a hike the last day we were in Algonquin Park, however it kept raining off and on so we didn't want to tackle anything too long. We decided that we would go on the Beaver Pond trail, in the hopes that we might get lucky and see a beaver. Unfortunately, no beavers... More

Easy, short, one to two hours max. This trail is an easy to medium hike trail. If you have one or two hours only, this is the trail you have to do it. If you are lucky enough you can see a beaver or two, but for sure the size of the beaver pond will impress you.

Beaver Pond Trail (flat + hills, not buggy in fall, 2km, 1.5hr) is listed as 'moderate' which reflects some of the uneven walking surfaces and the elevation this trail offered. It's very worthwhile since there are a number of opportunities to see see active and abandoned beaver lodges and habitat. We didn't see a beaver - but this is a... More
