This beautiful city in very high altitude in Andes, northern most city of Peru. Cold weather and Rain. A lot of churches and cathedrals, mountain all around the city, and you need to come on February, because it’s a celebration and carnaval of this city.

We took a walk up here and it was lovely. The views from outside of the Cathedral doors are awesome and well worth the climb up the stairs!

A person can appreciate the hard work that went into this place. The stone; jointed together is amazing. Workmanship with paintings -the object is not described.

Not much there, its a big nave and so spangles. It is far more interesting from the outside, however iof it is raining and the door is open ... LP gives opening times.

This is not a beautiful church. It was rebuilt in the 30/40's and other than a large gold plated altar it doesn't look very interesting. The outside is highly decorated. I do prefer the Belen church for its interior magnificence.

We were staying next to the cathedral and, most days, it was locked up. We did manage to vist twice, once during a normal service - very dark inside and nothing really to see. The second time was at the end of a funeral -...More
