Even in winter there were a few roses in bloom. Locals come to sunset to sit and enjoy the view. Fine to bring wine.

This garden is worth the visit if you happen to be in the Berkeley. It's hard to find a rose gardens maintained by a city with competing demands on its resources. Over the years the garden has been more or less maintained, and it's roses are beautiful when blooming, and true it has seen better days, but is worth the... More

A visit to this garden is a joy at most any time of the year when the roses are blooming. The variety of roses is lovely. The view is amazing! And the general energy of the place is uplifting. Unfortunately, the garden is in major disrepair, which cannot be overlooked. Sure do wish someone would fund a complete rejuvenation of... More

Parking - on the street Cost - free Time at location - 10 mins to walk about unless you are going to sit for a while. There are plenty of benches. Gardens - ok, however, a little run down. Unless you are particularly into roses you should go to the Berkeley botanical gardens or the gardens at Merrit Lake for... More

It's currently under some type of renovation and construction (September 2016), but when the roses are blooming the place is beautiful. Perfect for a leisurely afternoon stroll. The names of the roses are sometimes very amusing to read. The streets in the surrounding area are slightly hilly, but lovely residential neighborhoods.

Located in the middle of a nice and wealthy neighborhood with huge and ancient trees. If you visit the municipal rose garden is ok., always climbing or descending, but if you go to the left side there is a walk in a deep forest like, and you cross little bridges made of wood., without pave , nice and peaceful .... Though in all fairness the site is apparently about to begin a rehab process such as re-building the pergola. Still, the roses looked in pretty bad shape in a month where they should have been thriving.

Public gardens of this quality are quite rare. The Berkeley Municipal Rose Garden is a really nice place to walk around, enjoy the outdoors, and the odor of hundreds/thousands of roses. Totally free admission.
