Sonoma Coast is treasure. The Head is fantastic. From whales to wildflowers while hiking along the cliffs above the ocean. When I was young, it was always the Mendocino Coast. I guess people were keeping Sonoma Coast a secret. The views are better, the hikes...More

The wind was really bad that day but it was a great view. Went and seen the big hole in the head. Interesting but not much to see. Abundance of parking.

If we had known about this area, we would have stayed there during our visit to Santa Rosa (Sonoma Valley) as this isn't far to travel (about 45 minutes from our conference location) and it offers so much. Beautiful scenary and hiking. Wonderful restaurants offering...More

Beautiful views and vistas all around, am easy walk from parking. The wildflowers are in bloom, and you can see whales from the shore. There are a few benches along the way so you can rest and enjoy the view.

Its a pretty short hike with little elevation changes. Great for families. We say a few kids and dogs on the trail. It was quite windy and cold when we went. I would avoid if its windy as it gets pretty miserable if you are...More

This is a great walking trail if it is not windy otherwise, it is too cold. The hike is not exhausting as it is enjoyable. The view is nice. The cool breeze cools you down so you don't heat up during the walk. Very romantic.

The ride along Hwy 1 is spectacular. The plus was the turnouts that allowed for many photo opportunities. The best time to visit this area is early Fall. The weather is usually very accommodating.

Bodega Head is yet another segment of this most beautiful northern California coastline. It was raining when I was there in April so I did not walk down to the beach, but the views are lovely!

In the fall and spring watch the pods of whales migrate by. Trails in all directions are easy with constant views. You can easily get down to a beach. The sounds from the fog horn, seals, and crashing waves are wonderful. Dogs are allowed on...More

I did not take a dog that day and so did not look. In earlier times the dog was allowed on a leash. I think the trails are rather delicate now and much of the vegetation at the lower levels has blown away.

The parking lot has a few holes. But the viewing areas there are pretty easy and safe. There are trails on the hillside that power or beach wheel chairs could move on. But the view from the parking lot are real good.
