Beautiful
May 2021 • Couples
We hiked the The Slot and then drove through a number of the roads. Do it in a convertible for a great experience!

Awe inspiring
May 2021
First trip to the Anza-Borrego Desert, the massive size and relative pristine environment was awe inspiring for our entire multi-generational family. Saw lots of unique desert wildlife to check off our list. Suggest avoiding hiking or biking between 10 and 5 during the hottest summer months, unless you're exceptionally conditioned to extreme temps.

Tamarisk Grove State Park Campsite
Apr 2021
Pros:
The sky is beautifully clear at night after everybody shuts up and goes to sleep.
There are cabins and sites for tents - intermixed.
It was easy to book and no hassles. Cheap, actually. Book on ReserveCalifornia dot com.
I'd recommend studying both the map of campsites on ReserveCalifornia AND then taking an actual look at the site via Google Earth to compare what you see.

Cons:
It was very windy - some tents couldn't handle it - ours faired well.
The advertised WiFi connected but didn't provide internet - which would have helped when our alarm at home went off and they called the cops and we couldn't wave them off.
Cell-phone is spotty - Verizon, anyway - and we had trouble getting calls from our alarm company at home as noted above.
There are roads - on both sides of the campsites where - throughout the night - people and sometimes trucks - drive by too close to the sites.

Many Trails and Beautiful!
Apr 2021
We were very impressed with the film they were showing at Visitor Center. It was beautiful and capturing the best of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. We learned a lot and appreciate the park. There are many trails you can enjoy. If you like hiking and try several trails, you may prefer to stay few days. Don't forget your hiking shoes. We wish we have brought with us. Each trail seems to have quite character and you will surely enjoy them!

Abysmal campground management
Mar 2021 • Couples
Very nice campground in an outstanding location.
However, campground management is abysmal. Kiosk hours (10am - 4pm) are short and they only allow one lane to enter the campground via the kiosk-so, even if you already have a campsite, you may have to wait a very long time to get through the kiosk as new campers check-in or have questions. Also, dump station is only open when kiosk is open - so, if you want to leave the campground early (before 10am) you either have to wait for the kiosk to open or leave without dumping your RV.

Awesome off-roading & camping!
Feb 2021 • Family
We visited Font’s Point, the Calcite mines, the Cayon Sin Nombre trail, did the very fun Diablo Dropoff, Fish Creek Wash, the Wind Caves & the Elephant Tree. Camped off the Calcite mine trail and in the Fish Creek Wash area below the Wind Caves trail. Was 70’F day & down to 34’F last night! Just wonderful, scenic & ever-changing trails! We drove a new Jeep Rubicon and a Toyota 4Runner, and DID need 4WD & LO-range for parts of the trails, so come prepared!

Amazing
Feb 2021
First time visit and fell in love with the area. We saw bighorn sheep as one of our first adventure hikes. These amazing animals must be acclimated to humans because they did not run from us and went about their grazing. So many spots to take a hike-about. We are definitely returning to explore other trails we were unable to experience.

The only drawback was not all hiking spots or points of interest are clearly defined. Having this feature would truly help the 1st time visitor like me. Plus the visitor's center was closed so that was another kink in the visit.
