Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our first time tasting at Lafond included stops at Sanford and Peake Ranch. All 3 are on the most gorgeous road and drive in the entire area. Start at Sanford, then work your way back to Lafond and then Peake Ranch.
Sandra greeted us at Lafond and poured spectacular wines. With each one, she showed us the fact sheet about the wine, and answered any additional questions we had. There are two appellations at Lafond and we definitely prefered the SRH - Santa Rita Hills appellation. We left with multiple bottles of the SRH Chardonnay, SRH Pinot Noir and SRH Syrah. Would definitely come back to Lafond.

La Fond is a bit isolated from other wineries. It's about half way in between Mosby and Sanford. It's definitely worth a stop for its quaint tasting room and beautiful, peaceful grounds. Wines are decent, which I think makes La Fond definitely worthy of a stop while in wine country.

A nice selection of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Riesling. Cozy and the location is worth the drive.

We liked a lot of what we tasted and bought a few bottles.
On the way home we checked out the reseller Total Wine and More. Their prices beat the tasting room and club prices! That said they don't have a full selection so if there's a special favorite the cellar door may be the only option.
Good wines, yes. Nice environs, yes. So a worthwhile and enjoyable visit.

Nice little tasting room in the middle of the Santa Rita Hills on the south side. Average wines. I liked the 2013 Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir for $27, All of their wines are reasonably priced compared to other wineries in the area. The tasting fee of $10 included a logo wine glass.

Take a very pretty drive west from Buellton and go wine tasting at Lafond Winery. We love their Pinot Noir, Sarah, and Chardonnay. They have a great little shop in their tasting room. Their wines prices are very reasonable for the area. Also for a picnic, they have about 10 tables spreadout over a lawn area overlooking their vineyard and hills far off the country road. The people working in the tasting room, are all friendly and knowledgeable.

Even though we visited on a Monday, they were busy, maybe because only one person was working behind the bar at the time we were there. We had to wait a little while but time went quickly as we browsed the unique gifts. The gal working the tasting room was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Brought home a case of chardonnay. They do charge for shipping.

To be fair, I made an appointment for our wine group at the end of the day but I was under the impression that it was going to be a 30-minute seated tasting. I might have misunderstood. The wines are nice but lack buying power. We were shown into the barrel room but then left to our own devices since there was just one person working the tasting room with the presence of other guests. Next time I will not schedule a tasting so late in the day.

A little out of the way but a great spot to enjoy wine and a picnic. Wines were good and the people friendly and informative.

This winery is way off the beaten track but worth the drive into Santa Rita Hills. I would have never found this winery if a foodie friend hadn’t recommended it to me. I’m not really a fan of Santa Ynez pinot noirs but LaFond has a good one. I find many of the pinots in SYV to be thin and tasteless. The 2013 Martin Ray Clone pinot noir was excellent. I also enjoyed their Chardonnay. Diane, who poured our tasting, was very knowledgeable and did a great job.
