Well we stopped here in our day trip to the Salton Sea. Visitor center was closed but we went up onto the observation deck and took a walk down Rock Trail. Saw a few species of wildlife. Probably best in the spring and during the morning hours.

Before you go, check what time of year it is. Not much to see when we went. Probably during migration, there is a great deal to see.

We only had one day to explore. Need to have more time to do this area justice. My goal was to photograph Burrowing Owls. Got what I wanted!

I'm glad that this isn't that popular a place because we had thousands of Snow and Ross's geese all to ourselves. I'm not a birder, but this place might just turn me into one. Be sure to hit both the north and south branches of the reserve

There is a lot of bird life in and around Salton Sea. And one of the guides at the reserve said the birds come and go in waves. We were there when there wasn't a wave of birds. The trail to walk isn't anything especially nice or interesting and we only saw a few birds. I'd say go to other areas of Salton Sea and by chance you'll probably see plenty of birds.
